Outside of biographies, what are some books about the porn industry that I might be able to pick up at my local library. I'm not looking for xxx sexual fantasies here, but more insights into the actual lives the stars lead.

"The Other Hollywood" by Legs McNeil (possibly spelled wrong) is a fantastic look at the history of the porn industry. It's all done through interviews that are woven together. I'm about halfway through it and it's a fantastic read!

just to remind Jewel, he said at his local library. Whether Bradbury you mean public and/or college, /other I cant answer. But here's my experience. At the local you usually can't find nothing written by pornstars themselves unless it was Linda Lovelace's "Ordeal" and you cant even find that now. The only other notable exception was Jenna Jameson's "How To Make Love Like A Porn Star". The college libraries do stock "Ordeal" pretty well. Local libraries wont stock titles with explicit photos because 1.the books will incite the ire of the itinerant soccer mom browsing, 2.the sexually pages of the book get ripped out by teenagers, after schoolers & other, people steal the books and never return them. I remember searching for Jerry Butler's book "Raw Talent" c.1990 and could never find it except at the Library of Congress and there you can''t check nothing out.

Bradbury:

you might be interested in checking out anything by Annie Sprinkle(former porn star if you're too young to remember her). "Post Porn Modernist" is one of her titles you would enjoy and a lot of fun. Surprisingly she's authored or co-authored a few other titles since I last visited her site, www.anniesprinkle.org . Her other titles can be found at well known book sites like Amazon.com or Alibris.com

William Burroughs' "Naked Lunch" is still the best book written about porn, but in this neocon era it doesn't seem as readily available at libraries as it was in the 80s and 90s.

Jenna's "How To Make Love Like A Porn Star" has been in in every library I've visited from Hollywood to Boston over the past two years. I'm surprised its not checked out more!
