*Two books about the Mitchell Bros: BOTTOM FEEDERS by John Hubner and X-RATED by David McCumber.
*Vanessa Del Rio's fantastically titled, beautifully presented FIFTY YEARS OF SLIGHTLY SLUTTY BEHAVIOR has a good bit about the golden age and is well worth the price. Trust me.

Poster books:
*Robin Bougie's GRAPHIC THRILLS series compiles classic porn posters with insightful historical analysis and fun factoids.
*X-RATED: ADULT MOVIE POSTERS OF THE 60S AND 70S ed. Tony Nourmand and Graham Marsh is a nice collection of sexploitation, softcore, and hardcore poster art with a short introduction.
*SEXYTIME: THE POST-PORN RISE OF THE PORNOISSEUR by Jacques Boyreau is excellent and, in addition to providing a compilation of poster art, offers some interesting analysis about nostalgia and porn expertise.

* GOOD HOT STUFF: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF GAY FILM PIONEER JACK DEVEAU by Marco Siedelmann is a massive book that combines original interviews, history, behind the scenes stuff, analysis, archival magazine articles, photographs, and more.
* PORNO CHIC AND THE SEX WARS ed. Whit Strub and Carolyn Bronstein--a collection of academic essays about 1970s porn set in cultural context.
* BEAVER STREET by Robert Rosen, a history of modern porn that spends a good bit of time on the 70s and 80s.
* BIGGER THAN LIFE by Jeffrey Escoffier is the most comprehensive history of all-male porn, with several chapters devoted to the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
* TIMES SQUARE RED, TIMES SQUARE BLUE by Samuel Delany is a beautifully written autobiographical exploration of Times Square adult cinemas and counterculture. The first half of the book focuses on the 70s/80s.
* DISPOSABLE PASSIONS by David Church is an academic book about the role of nostalgia in pornographic eroticism, with a focus on golden age porn.

There are chapters about golden age porn in HARDCORE by Linda Williams, A TASTE FOR BROWN SUGAR by Mireille Miller Young, THE BLACK BODY IN ECSTASY by Jennifer Nash, and VIOLENCE AND THE PORNOGRAPHIC IMAGINARY by Natalie Purcell.

I remember Jerry Butler showing up on Geraldo Rivera's talk show, maybe late '80s early 90s?

At the time, I think he was in a relationship with Lisa Loring, who had played Wednesday on the Addams Family on TV.

She was doing make-up so that's how they had met.

She's on the show with him so that's the main reason to seek it out.

Of course, it is not as good as the show where Neo-Nazis beat up Geraldo.

William E. Jones wrote a very good book on gay porn legend director/performer Fred Halsted called Halsted on Halsted. Highly reommended if you can find it.

^ Butler's appearance on a TV talk show (Donahue? Morton Downey?) in the 80s was amazing, it used to be on YT but I can't find it anymore.
