I think people main issue with her is her expressing she didn't give a fuck about George Floyd's death after two days and she clearly doesn't or don't want to understand why her comments are insensitive. She comes across as someone who is callous and a narcissist. Yep I think that's it in a nutshell. Behaving as if people are simply mad at her for being a Republican or a conservative is obviously false. Remember, she's been an openly vocal Trump supporter for years and was even profiled in a major news outlet about it without having received any kind of serious industry backlash. It seems pretty clear that the callousness of her statements were a bit of a 'Mask Off' moment for a lot of people who may not have agreed with her politically, but were willing to look the other way so they could enjoy her work.
It's a very weird thing and may be tough for some to understand. If someone asked one of you in this thread what they thought on the subject and they gave a wacky answer it shouldn't bother you much past thinking "Oh boy, here's another whack job..." However, when a celeb/famous/popular person or someone you liked previously said something wacky you might start to wonder if you want to support that person anymore or from that point on everytime you see them the wacky comments pop in your head. You might decide you don't think much of that person anymore and decide you don't have much desire to watch them or request them to studios or follow their social media or whatever. In this case, Brandi said something fairly messed up. It's her right to do so. And while everyone has bad days and might say something stupid in the heat of the moment she decided to double down and and take it another level. Dumb move for an entertainer. Why risk offending or turning away fans saying something you know isn't PC? Brandi's a big girl and has been around long enough to know better...one would think. So she said what she said. That's fine. But what she said has consequences and she might lose fans over it. That's fine too.
Feelings are running high at the moment, while the likes of twitter are full of crap at the best of times, posted by all kinds of people whose brains aren't fully in gear at the time. Brandi has posted quite a bit condemning the looters and rioters, whose activities, after all have led to a number of deaths. She may have gone over the top on this occasion, but otherwise her tweets are consistent with someone who holds right wing views on several issues of the day. She has never made any secret of these opinions. If these put some people off her that is fair enough. Personally, though I may not share some of them, I admire her for sticking to her guns. As for the accusation that she is not sufficiently respectful to the memory of George Floyd, this reminds me of the aftermath of Princess Diana's death in the UK years ago, when anyone not out on the streets weeping and wailing was condemned as being a bit of a bastard. That is not to try and trivialize his murder.
So its okay to tweet about not giving a fuck about a defenseless man being killed about a police officer? She expected people to not react to that? I guess she's a idiot then. It's not a left/right or even a Trump thing at all, she is constantly spewing pure deranged hatred and is proud of it. She's a psycho and a bigot and is actively demanding attention for it. Sorry, but that's fair game.
Lots of performers have terrible or incomprehensible politics, she's the only one I know that throws it in everyone's face like it's a challenge. What am I going to do about it? I can support a person that has different political, social, and economic views than me, but if your views conflict with or display absolute apathy towards the existence and well-being of other people, how can I support you knowing that about you?
If her views were based on ignorance and she was willing to change her opinion when presented with new information, it would be different. But she has been presented with new information and she refuses to engage in any sort of introspection. Instead she chooses to block people who challenge her flawed worldview and continue to regurgitate demonstrably false right-wing (some very far right) talking points in an echo chamber.
You can also ask why we might not shop at Walmart/ Chick Fil A /Amazon. Personally, I want to know that my shopping dollars are going to companies who have ideals that are similar to mine. So when I find out that Chick Fil A has donated tons of money (money that would come from me as a consumer) to anti LGBTQI legislation, I'm like, okay, well, your food may be delicious, but I'm not interested in supporting your mission.

I think those of you that grew up with social media are taking what she says on twitter much more seriously than someone like me, for whom social media wasn't really a thing before the age of 30. I just look at the dumb shit she said as some dumb shit that she said. She may or may not mean it. I doubt she's just going to shoot someone and I don't think she's a sociopath. Callous and insensitive, yes, certainly.
