First, do a USPTO search to see if your stage name is registered as a service mark by following this link and then select "Search Trademarks": I worked with a talent managment company in the 1990s organizing acting seminars. The company had some success repping several soap-opera actors and prime-time television actors. So, when I was reading adultfyi.com and lukeisback.com today about Bree Olson and her rumored pregnancy (a rumor which her agent clarified is a fabrication), one thing led to another, and I took an interest, since she listed in a post at ADT the name of her website breeolson.com Bree and all adult stars serious about their careers should service mark their stage name. Don't allow the company that wants to sign you to a contract to own your professional name--you can license the use of your name to the company you sign with. I searched the US Patent Office and there is at this time no service mark or any other kind of application on file to service mark the professional name of Bree Olson. Bree, keep ownership of your professional name, service mark your professional name yourself -- hire a patent/trademark attorney to file the paperwork--it could be very valuable to you in the future--much more valuable than any contract. It's one of the most basic things an actor should do--all good talent managers in mainstream would offer such advice to clients. I have been through the trademark/service mark process and it is time-consuming, can be expensive (attorney fees) but it is worth it in the long run. Jenna Jameson registered her service mark in 2002. Here is the public listing for any adult performer interested in the terminology and how it's done:

Searching a public database like the USPTO database is not stalking--for instance, I just looked up your service mark registerd May 30, 2006 and note that your attorney of record is Sean E. Macias of Leader Kozmer LLP in LA. So you perhaps agree that adult talent should register their name as a service mark, since you wisely did so. Jules, there is more 411 on you at Wikipedia than there is at the USPTO database, which states that "Jules Jordan does not identify a living individual." A stalker probably isn't going to find anything useful doing a USPTO search. So you are wrong in your characterization of my motivation. As BuffaloSoldier pointed out, I did not even spell Bree Olson's name correctly in my original post--a stalker might have gotten it right. I know that Bree Olson is interested in a contract. I am familiar with what happened to Tera Patrick at Digital Playground re: her professional name. It appears that some newcomers are kept in the dark about the proper way to conduct their business from the start. That sometimes is because owners and producers of content have no financial incentive to inform talent to retain the services of an attorney when negotiating contracts--or even performances in videos. For example, did any of the new talent you lensed for your upcoming release mentioned in another thread retain the services of an attorney to negotiate their contract? or did they have a licensed agent negotiate for them? Also, Bree Olson invited anyone at ADT to email her in another thread at ADT that Luke Ford posted a link to--but I have not emailed her. Perhaps some stalkers have emailed her. But because she reads this board, and because other adult performers do, I offered those that didn't already know some advice, in the public forum. That's all. In the meantime, I have gotten emails from your very nice girlfriend, Jenna Haze, and three from you--all of which I have not answered. Yet you keep trying to engage me in communication.
