What i don't like is when British companies try to make features with a script, sets and stuff. I say leave it to the Americans, they are better at it, just do your own thing. Ben Dover seems to be the only guy who has got a decent break in America. I think what appeals is seeing normal looking girls as if they have just been picked off the street acting like pornstars, rather than seeing actual pornstars, though this stuff must be increasingly difficult to capture what with the amount of British girls going straight over to the states. To help you a bit further, I've shot the One Eyed Jack series for Extreme Associates several years ago which I'm told was received very well excepth Extreme were going through some problems for having a "renegade" reputation over there. I've heard a lot of people are not familiar with my stuff but Andy who has some of my early stuff on his www.shotathome.com website reassures me that people love your stuff, they just don't know me per se. I'm biased when I say we do have some good talent, some of it needs nurturing, but we do have some good producers and directors over here and due to our limitations tend to produce home made, rather than the term amateur. The porn industry has just come out of the cottage industry it was two years ago and we do have people that are looking for the hot girls and the better production values etc but I fear a lot of the people involved behind and in fron to of the camera do not watch much porn, therefore don't know what they are competeing against. Throwing caution to the wind and making what they feel is right, but the trouble is, another twenty productions have done the same thing which makes everything come across as samey. Hence the only thing that seems to come out of Britain is mainly gonzo. Now the trend is changing, some companies are trying to be like Relish and so on and so forth. Is it the man or his own line of movies you like? His own line is under the brand of One Eyed Pirate Productions, a name he know doubt chose to pay homage for the years he worked with me under One Eyed Jack Productions. John has only been producing titles for two years and has worked prior to this with me for nearly five years despite being in the business mainly taking pictures for magazines for close to 18 years. I say this so there is no confusion between One Eyed Jack and One Eyed Pirate. I really don't know why he just didnt call himself Johnny Rebel Productions. It would have been a lot easier to distinguish between the two. Ironically enough it was me who coined the name when we co-produced the Wife Watchers series, apart from Johns inimitable performance, it was I who was responsible for editing it in the style that it is and bringing it to market. This is a sticking point between us and although it may not bear any relevance, I felt I should clarify this to offset the confusion. By the way, isn't Johnny REbel a stage name for a gay performer in the states? [Link]

The first is with MSS and we will be releasing their UK Student House, Vice Girls, Fetish Desires, Page 3 Girls Peeing, Tanya Hyde and DP lines with stars like Hannah Harper, Layla Jade and Ashley & Angel Long. We also signed a deal with an 80 year old guy who owns a modeling agency and has tons of scenes with him and 18-20 year old girls in their first scenes...I know sounds sick, but Dave Cummings does it, and I viewed a few movies and they are hot!! On the subject of Britporn being shot with existing light, this can be attibuted to its realistic and non commercial approach which was very popular back several years ago. I consider myself more of a porn documantarian of realism than a gonzo director. As far as I'm concerned, the best gonzo guy we have to offer is Ben Dover and I for one never considered myself a gonzo wannabe. So bear in mind I can only judge from this tiny sample. I think it's crap - the low quality you refer to is a big part of this. To me quality IS EVERYTHING - you could have the best looking gals, the hardest, nastiest action but if quality standards are low - ie lighting, colour saturation, focus, make up & clothes and anything else that contributes to quality, then I don't want to see the flick. I love to see brit girls in US movies - Angel Long, Jessie J et al do float my boat but low standards forget it - wouldn't have em off you if you gave em away. With the exception Stefan 60 has admitted to not seeing any UK porn and appreciate that everything has to be perfect as this is the type of porn that he best likes. Fair dues. Ramsey likes Johnny Rebel. Fair dues. To each their own but c'mon guys, sweeping generalisations is frankly offensive. I hear it hear about american porn and I'm quick to defend US porn as well. Frankly there is good porn to be found everywhere. Sometimes the good stuff gets lost amongst the tide of sub standard stuff. I hate to use the word gonzo but prefer the term reality porn, which no matter how you put it always has a bit of contrivance from the moment you switch the camera on. I can take a mild drop in quality if the action is sincere and you can see what is going on, otherwise Stefan, you might be missing some damn good stuff. I think the amateur stuff is popular, even the bad quality stuff because it has an appeal of "who can possibly be on this tape that I know" about it rather than the regular big names that we know. A lot of people like the idea their school teacher might be getting freaky and taking it up the arse while adjusting her specs looking conservative as a school teacher on a Monday morning in front of class...Damn, we had that scenario with Jenny Loveitt. Terry Stephens of One Eyed Jack I would say depends really your taste if you want beautiful looking ladies and top quality action I would say the ones released by your choice are the best plus his Real Couples line. If you want ordinary/older/amateur looking talent shot in their own homes, then that would be most of his other stuff. Marcus Allen’s films have been about for quite a while under different guises – unless he has shot new stuff and really is just a camera placed on a tripod in his bedroom and films whatever materialises, some of the talent is a bit questionable in these as well. One other producer of note is British female producer/director Anna Span who always films interesting fresh stuff. Most of these British Films are released uner the Rude Britannia Label worldwide. It is a pain in the arse but a lot of the scenes you see on the site where shot illicitly pre- r18 and to be honest, when I made videos back then, they were strictly meant to be sold from the bot of my car to my customers by door to door delivery or maiul order. I had no illusions about being big like Ben Dover et al. I made a lot of money back then and invested it in porn that I knew my customers liked: The real stuff with real back drops (familiar locations) we had a lot of fun back then. I had no limitations put on me back then so I was free to film what I wanted and what I got was what people pretty much wanted to do, that's why my scenes never followed any certain pattern and were quite wild in a freestyle kind of way with pissing, outdoors and other things that flout the BBFC guidelines. Some say I sold out but its simple economics: If I am to be recognised as a legitimate player in the UK, I have to step in line and conform tothe rules, especially with the clients I shoot for. I know this pseudo posh accent thing has been a gripe with many a person here and to tell you the truth, it winds me up no end. It's a by product of the Television X thing where everyone acts like they're on TV. The truth is, most models (99.9%) of them can't act well at all and as for the guys...Can't act and maintain a hard on while performing. Simple science behind this: Too much blood inthe dick and not enough left in the brain. I've had to re-start shoots for the amount of times guys start a scene saying "Hello" Grr! And the whole commentary that comes with the shagging too. Yes, I'm guilty, I've had it on some shoots but I've learned quickly to nip this in the bud. The industry has changed so much from the heady days when it was illegal that its actually harder getting new models to perform the realistic type sex situations I was renowned for a few years ago but thats still not an excuse not to produce good stuff. To be honest, I havent lost any sleep on some of the new stuff that has come out over here and prefer to keep a view from the bridge before making decisions to do certain shoots. I feel I have a good line in material to come out from here on in that has only been delayed due to my heavy work load. Since splitting with John Mason (Johnny Rebel) I have been selective in which shoots I undertake whereas John is a work horse who shoots for the sake of shooting and likened the way we worked as more hit than miss assuming someone somewhere would like it,porn is porn blah blah blah but I found this a very dissatisfying way to work. JJames categorised me fairly up to a point: I've got some pretty girls coming out on my Naughty Shorties line too from #6 and #8 onwards with girls like Roxy Jezel, Sarah Wright and McKenzie Lee who is coming to the AVN this January (she is a sweetie). I was led to believe that "The Yanks love our stuff", the girls for theirlooks,accents etc. The interesting thing is I don't think its true. What I've found out is, as I suspected all along, Americans prefer their own porn the same way the British prefer theirs and equal percentage just like porn no matter where it comes from as long as it gives you a twitch in the pant zone. Britporn gets a bit of a hammering (both here and abroad) for a majority of its low production standards which most Brits tend to find endearing because it feels more personal and less commercial- therefore more exclusive on a "I shouldnt be watching this video of a highly intimate nature" kind of way. It was interesting to read the various posts which I found enlightening. All of it. The criticisms and the plus points. You'll be seeing me around here from time to time peeps and keep those opinions coming. They are all valued. Fistly, I"ll just let you know that I"m a pom myself, British through and through etc. For the last few years I"ve been living in a big land down under. It would seem that the vast majority of available porn here is of U.S or European origin (plenty of Private titles etc) but with little U>K porn. You do see the occasional Omar or Ben Dover titles but on the whole, U.K. porn seems in short supply. Also what is available seems comparatively expensive, the way it works here, an American title will normally cost about 25 to 30 dollars (ten to twelve quid)while a few select titles e.g. private will be closer to 60 dollars. The Brit films also edge closer to the Private end of the costs scale. As to the relevance of this. Well, I feel that the U.S. and Oz have far more in common with each other than either have with the U.K. Which leads to the question of why would either want to buy Brit porn which is often very similar to U.S. porn when the Brit stuff is generally a lot more expensive ? The only reason I could think of would be because it is 'different' in an appealing kind of way. This leads me to think that if U.K. pornmakers would like to grab more of the action stateside then perhaps they should concentrate more on exploiting the different aspects of Brit porn,by that I don't mean do standard gonzo or POV with girls with Scouse accents per se. I really mean emphasise what it is about Brits that tends to make them "likeable' to outsiders. Let's face it, us Brits are pretty crap at sports, we've generally got 'orrible weather to put up with and it's highly unlikely that we'll ever even win another Eurovision song contest. But,when all's said and done, we do still lead the world (in my mind at least) when it comes to our sense of humour. If there's one thing the Brits do well, it's take the piss out of themselves. Now that may seem an invalid point, yet our comedy type shows are so popular here in Oz (And quite popular, I believe, in the States)that it really does seem a shame to let that part of the Brit appeal thing go to watste. Thanks for a good post there Butt Munch, you've highlighted another thing: Pricing! Maybe its the pound versus the dollar thing that really segregates our countries which brings me to another point. Why is foreign produced stuff more expensive than domestic US produced stuff. The obvious thing that comes to my mind is that American producers want to concentrate on priortising their own material. This is natural, self preservation stuff and I understand this if it is the case. Is it the case then? On the topic of pricing, I am importing two British lines into North America, Kinky Wrinkly and the entire MSS line (UK Student House, Vice Girl, Page 3 Girls Peeing, Fetish Desires, etc.) and will price them wholesale at a comparable price to US porn. The Kinky Wrinkly series will be priced at the lower end of the spectrum while the MSS line will be at the mid-point. We currently price the GGG line at the high end of the spectrum (because we have to pay so much for the line). We will be releasing the first Kinky Wrinkly and Vice Girls in two weeks, then a KW every other week and a MSS every week. Our goal at Black Widow is to have the nastiest, raunchiest, different product that US laws will allow (I detest jail cells!). We are scouring Europe for other lines that will fit our game plan. Even now with the R18 rule you know you will be missing out on something. I say leave it to the Americans, they are better at it, just do your own thing. Ben Dover seems to be the only guy who has got a decent break in America. I think what appeals is seeing normal looking girls as if they have just been picked off the street acting like pornstars, rather than seeing actual pornstars, though this stuff must be increasingly difficult to capture what with the amount of British girls going straight over to the states.

I agree with Tinaka. To help you a bit further, I've shot the One Eyed Jack series for Extreme Associates several years ago which I'm told was received very well excepth Extreme were going through some problems for having a "renegade" reputation over there.

I've heard a lot of people are not familiar with my stuff but Andy who has some of my early stuff on his www.shotathome.com website reassures me that people love your stuff, they just don't know me per se.

I'm biased when I say we do have some good talent, some of it needs nurturing, but we do have some good producers and directors over here and due to our limitations tend to produce home made, rather than the term amateur. The porn industry has just come out of the cottage industry it was two years ago and we do have people that are looking for the hot girls and the better production values etc but I fear a lot of the people involved behind and in fron to of the camera do not watch much porn, therefore don't know what they are competeing against. Throwing caution to the wind and making what they feel is right, but the trouble is, another twenty productions have done the same thing which makes everything come across as samey. Hence the only thing that seems to come out of Britain is mainly gonzo. Now the trend is changing, some companies are trying to be like Relish and so on and so forth.

On a lighter note, I do beleive we will have something for you Americans to rave about other than just Ben Dover and Big Omar and some people over are trying to make that change now as I write this.

That's interesting Ramsey, you quote a preference for Johnny Rebel movies, the strange thing is John is in a lot of movies outside his own stuff yet you cited an interest in The Wife Watchers Confidential series which in fact is a One Eyed Jack production. Is it the man or his own line of movies you like?

His own line is under the brand of One Eyed Pirate Productions, a name he know doubt chose to pay homage for the years he worked with me under One Eyed Jack Productions.

John has only been producing titles for two years and has worked prior to this with me for nearly five years despite being in the business mainly taking pictures for magazines for close to 18 years.

I say this so there is no confusion between One Eyed Jack and One Eyed Pirate. I really don't know why he just didnt call himself Johnny Rebel Productions. It would have been a lot easier to distinguish between the two.

Ironically enough it was me who coined the name when we co-produced the Wife Watchers series, apart from Johns inimitable performance, it was I who was responsible for editing it in the style that it is and bringing it to market.

This is a sticking point between us and although it may not bear any relevance, I felt I should clarify this to offset the confusion.

By the way, isn't Johnny REbel a stage name for a gay performer in the states?

What a great thread for me!! We just signed an agreement with two British companies to bring their titles to the US. The first is with MSS and we will be releasing their UK Student House, Vice Girls, Fetish Desires, Page 3 Girls Peeing, Tanya Hyde and DP lines with stars like Hannah Harper, Layla Jade and Ashley & Angel Long. We also signed a deal with an 80 year old guy who owns a modeling agency and has tons of scenes with him and 18-20 year old girls in their first scenes...I know sounds sick, but Dave Cummings does it, and I viewed a few movies and they are hot!! We are calling the line "Kinky Wrinkly"! We will be introducing both lines at the AVN show (booth 7077) and will release our first titles in late January.

Ramsey,how can you be a Johny Rebel fan and not know of Johns high volume of work in the past year or so.

I could tell you a thing or two about that scene with John and Angel Long but I don't want to ruin the illusion for you.

John is doing his thing now and fair play to him but I think you should understand a lot of what you like was not a Johnny Rebel Production but indeed a One Eyed Jack Production.

This confusion is exactly the reason behind me and John falling out in the first place.

On another note, a chap who I get on famously with is The Kinky Wrinkly aka Marcus Allen and wish him all the best of luck out there. He's certainly quite a character.

On the subject of Britporn being shot with existing light, this can be attibuted to its realistic and non commercial approach which was very popular back several years ago.
I consider myself more of a porn documantarian of realism than a gonzo director. As far as I'm concerned, the best gonzo guy we have to offer is Ben Dover and I for one never considered myself a gonzo wannabe. The style of my videos and his are poles apart in style and no less popular for it.

I have seen virtualy no Brit porn - I have one DVD that has clips from some and previews of others.

So bear in mind I can only judge from this tiny sample.

I think it's crap - the low quality you refer to is a big part of this.

To me quality **IS EVERYTHING** - you could have the best looking gals, the hardest, nastiest action but if quality standards are low - ie lighting, colour saturation, focus, make up & clothes and anything else that contributes to quality, then I don't want to see the flick.

I love to see brit girls in US movies - Angel Long, Jessie J et al do float my boat but low standards forget it - wouldn't have em off you if you gave em away.

I have only seen a couple of "ben dover" titles and I couldn't stand them. The actresses were amazing. I love British actresses like Angel Long , ashley Long , Layla Jade , and Jessie J.
The "ben dover " style made me furious because of the constant movement and the usual over abundance and overagressiveness of the males.

I have actually signed an agreement with Marcus Allen (his porn name)for exclusive distribution of all of his material in North America. Bond UK and Stefan 60 should not be so crass in their sweeping generalisation that Brit porn is crap and American porn is better. With the exception Stefan 60 has admitted to not seeing any UK porn and appreciate that everything has to be perfect as this is the type of porn that he best likes. Fair dues. If I have a problem with British porn it's actually very much to do with the fact that they all too often seem to head in to 'carry on...' and 'confessions of a....' territory. Why do we have to have so much nudge nudge, wink wink stuff in our porn; it's as if we're still really all a little bit repressed and feel that fucking on film would be a bit too hard edged without softening it up with a few double entendres and innuendo.

Having viewed quite a lot of British Porn over the last 10 years or so I would say the highest quality stuff is made by Relish all the films have a theme or scenario to them which do tend to be on the funny side, they always use top notch ladies.
Terry Stephens of One Eyed Jack I would say depends really your taste if you want beautiful looking ladies and top quality action I would say the ones released by your choice are the best plus his Real Couples line. If you want ordinary/older/amateur looking talent shot in their own homes, then that would be most of his other stuff.
Marcus Allen’s films have been about for quite a while under different guises – unless he has shot new stuff and really is just a camera placed on a tripod in his bedroom and films whatever materialises, some of the talent is a bit questionable in these as well.
One other producer of note is British female producer/director Anna Span who always films interesting fresh stuff.
Most of these British Films are released uner the Rude Britannia Label worldwide.

Sir Noel Plum: Yes I have encountered problems with the BBFC but not for the stuff you see on the terryvision.net sit, in fact for more subtler shoots. It is a pain in the arse but a lot of the scenes you see on the site where shot illicitly pre- r18 and to be honest, when I made videos back then, they were strictly meant to be sold from the bot of my car to my customers by door to door delivery or maiul order.

I had no illusions about being big like Ben Dover et al. I made a lot of money back then and invested it in porn that I knew my customers liked: The real stuff with real back drops (familiar locations) we had a lot of fun back then. I had no limitations put on me back then so I was free to film what I wanted and what I got was what people pretty much wanted to do, that's why my scenes never followed any certain pattern and were quite wild in a freestyle kind of way with pissing, outdoors and other things that flout the BBFC guidelines. Some say I sold out but its simple economics: If I am to be recognised as a legitimate player in the UK, I have to step in line and conform tothe rules, especially with the clients I shoot for.

I know this pseudo posh accent thing has been a gripe with many a person here and to tell you the truth, it winds me up no end. It's a by product of the Television X thing where everyone acts like they're on TV. The truth is, most models (99.9%) of them can't act well at all and as for the guys...Can't act and maintain a hard on while performing. Simple science behind this: Too much blood inthe dick and not enough left in the brain. I've had to re-start shoots for the amount of times guys start a scene saying "Hello" Grr! And the whole commentary that comes with the shagging too. Yes, I'm guilty, I've had it on some shoots but I've learned quickly to nip this in the bud.

The industry has changed so much from the heady days when it was illegal that its actually harder getting new models to perform the realistic type sex situations I was renowned for a few years ago but thats still not an excuse not to produce good stuff.

To be honest, I havent lost any sleep on some of the new stuff that has come out over here and prefer to keep a view from the bridge before making decisions to do certain shoots. I feel I have a good line in material to come out from here on in that has only been delayed due to my heavy work load.

Since splitting with John Mason (Johnny Rebel) I have been selective in which shoots I undertake whereas John is a work horse who shoots for the sake of shooting and likened the way we worked as more hit than miss assuming someone somewhere would like it,porn is porn blah blah blah but I found this a very dissatisfying way to work. JJames categorised me fairly up to a point: I've got some pretty girls coming out on my Naughty Shorties line too from #6 and #8 onwards with girls like Roxy Jezel, Sarah Wright and McKenzie Lee who is coming to the AVN this January (she is a sweetie). No Tinaka, I do not work with Bob anymore. Kris Knight/ Newz has retired from performing and Bob hasn't worked for Ben Dover in over 3 years now. Shame really, because he was a good performer on camera and a silly prat who became a liability off...But got to give the guy his dues, when he was on a roll, he was very good.Shame to see such talent go to waste.

I just have to say One Eyed Jacks statement that Bob was a Silly Prat is a great understatement!!!!!!! but getting genuine feedback from Americans about there feeling for this subject I deduced so far that many of you havent seen that much outside of Ben Dover and Big Omar (we know him as Big Willy over here).

I was led to believe that "The Yanks love our stuff", the girls for theirlooks,accents etc. The interesting thing is I don't think its true. What I've found out is, as I suspected all along, Americans prefer their own porn the same way the British prefer theirs and equal percentage just like porn no matter where it comes from as long as it gives you a twitch in the pant zone.

Britporn gets a bit of a hammering (both here and abroad) for a majority of its low production standards which most Brits tend to find endearing because it feels more personal and less commercial- therefore more exclusive on a "I shouldnt be watching this video of a highly intimate nature" kind of way.

It was interesting to read the various posts which I found enlightening. All of it. The criticisms and the plus points. You'll be seeing me around here from time to time peeps and keep those opinions coming. They are all valued. I for one respect constructive criticism and will hold my hands up if I'm guilty as charged.

Enjoying this topic so much, I feel I"m going to have to join in.
Fistly, I"ll just let you know that I"m a pom myself, British through and through etc. For the last few years I"ve been living in a big land down under.
It would seem that the vast majority of available porn here is of U.S or European origin (plenty of Private titles etc) but with little U>K porn. You do see the occasional Omar or Ben Dover titles but on the whole, U.K. porn seems in short supply. Also what is available seems comparatively expensive, the way it works here, an American title will normally cost about 25 to 30 dollars (ten to twelve quid)while a few select titles e.g. private will be closer to 60 dollars. The Brit films also edge closer to the Private end of the costs scale.
As to the relevance of this. Well, I feel that the U.S. and Oz have far more in common with each other than either have with the U.K.
Which leads to the question of why would either want to buy Brit porn which is often very similar to U.S. porn when the Brit stuff is generally a lot more expensive ?
The only reason I could think of would be because it is 'different' in an appealing kind of way.
This leads me to think that if U.K. pornmakers would like to grab more of the action stateside then perhaps they should concentrate more on exploiting the different aspects of Brit porn,by that I don't mean do standard gonzo or POV with girls with Scouse accents per se. I really mean emphasise what it is about Brits that tends to make them "likeable' to outsiders.
Let's face it, us Brits are pretty crap at sports, we've generally got 'orrible weather to put up with and it's highly unlikely that we'll ever even win another Eurovision song contest. But,when all's said and done, we do still lead the world (in my mind at least) when it comes to our sense of humour. If there's one thing the Brits do well, it's take the piss out of themselves.
Now that may seem an invalid point, yet our comedy type shows are so popular here in Oz (And quite popular, I believe, in the States)that it really does seem a shame to let that part of the Brit appeal thing go to watste.
I could go on for days but I"ll leave it at that for now, just to see how others respond before I get even more boorish.

It's opinions like this that mean so much more than the usual is it good or bad stuff. Thanks for a good post there Butt Munch, you've highlighted another thing: Pricing! Maybe its the pound versus the dollar thing that really segregates our countries which brings me to another point. Why is foreign produced stuff more expensive than domestic US produced stuff. The obvious thing that comes to my mind is that American producers want to concentrate on priortising their own material. This is natural, self preservation stuff and I understand this if it is the case. Is it the case then? Is America trying to hold back the tide of European produced material and filtering the imports through by overpricing it a bit (almost double) more or is it just simply fiscal issue of the pound being stronger than the dollar? Am I going way leftfield here?

This topic is getting very interesting! On the topic of pricing, I am importing two British lines into North America, Kinky Wrinkly and the entire MSS line (UK Student House, Vice Girl, Page 3 Girls Peeing, Fetish Desires, etc.) and will price them wholesale at a comparable price to US porn. The Kinky Wrinkly series will be priced at the lower end of the spectrum while the MSS line will be at the mid-point. We currently price the GGG line at the high end of the spectrum (because we have to pay so much for the line). We will be releasing the first Kinky Wrinkly and Vice Girls in two weeks, then a KW every other week and a MSS every week. Our goal at Black Widow is to have the nastiest, raunchiest, different product that US laws will allow (I detest jail cells!). We are scouring Europe for other lines that will fit our game plan.

Since I've reviewed a few Shot at Home titles, which ones does he have of yours? I know I've reviewed a few of the Brit titles he had and I'm curious to know if I reviewed any of the stuff you did. If they're the titles I'm thinking they might be, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm DADDY LIKE!!!!!!!!!!

I dunno, the more I see of most anything the closer I get to believing the "95% of everything is crap" rule. I can often associate certain studios with the 95% part, but I have yet to be able to put a significant portion of porn from any country in the 5% part...

Back on the original question, I haven't watched Ben Dover yet, but I've seen quite a bit of Big Omar / Big Willie. I like his style, which was simple but effective, and he's a heck of a nice guy as well. I've watched Betty Swollocks as well (which I'm sure many of us remember quite well - Steph, Drew? ), who kinda shot off of Big Omar. Finally, I watched a bunch of Union Jax stuff, which did absolutely nothing for me. There's also Frank Thring and Tanya Hyde, who I've enjoyed but I'm guessing they're a little outside the Britporn discussion.

Ric - Although the GGG stuff didn't do much for me, I can't wait to see the MSS stuff!

From what I understand the US has a real market in force which might help to drive down the cost of their porn . In the UK the decision to restrict sale to licensed sex shops more or less guarantees a smaller market (comparatively) which means higher prices . If more people were buying then there'd be more DVDs to cover the initial costs of the shoot : You could sell more cheaply and still survive . I'd guess there's also the question of people only buying what they have available to them to buy - why would a shop owner want any Viv Thomas discs if none of his customers (and probably he himself) have never heard of it ? ADT is full of people who have made an effort to find stuff they might like , but I'd guess most people just consume what's put in front of them . And if they don't like it they stop watching . Maybe the cost of submitting a film to the BBFC adds a little as well .

Also , how many foreign films get released in America in the mainstream world ? How many Americans hold a passport ? There might just be an inwardlooking aspect to the American character ... and probably to ours too ...

Because i buy most of my porn from the US (as it is SO much cheaper and uncut) i haven't seen as much Brit porn as i'd like.

I have seen alot of Ben Dover and Omar but i find that alot of the girls simply aren't that attractive.
It seems they cater more for the average British builder/white van driver who likes amateur style porn featuring older housewives/chubby barmaids and some cheeky banter.

Other types of Brit porn are harder to find using US retailers.
Because of stupid British laws regulating what we can watch buying porn in the UK was a very hit or miss affair. There were so many illegal mail order companies or unlicensed sex shops that rip offs were common (i remember buying magazines where the penetration shots were covered with black dots!). Even now with the R18 rule you know you will be missing out on something.
Thats why so many people here only buy from the US retailers (and soooo much cheaper), and if they don't stock these UK titles then too bad.

Terry if you can get more of your films to the big online US retailers and knock them out for $20 then i would definately give them a look.

I would love to get distribution in the state and make my material more accessible but its a case of finding the right deal than just settling for a mealy pay out on rights...A mans gotta eat. But I'm still trying though. The net makes it more accessible for fans to see the kind of material that wouldnt see the light of day because of the BBFC regulations that govern UK porn. All in all, the BBFC are not an entirely bad lot. Strangely enough, they base most of their rules on what acceptable in the US. Generally, the BBFC do not endorse watersports, fisting or squirting, which is deemed to be pissing according to an 'official expert'.
