Besides, the "daddy" and "spanking" thing, as has already been explained, was just a spontaneous and ad-libbed part of a fun scene between Courtney and Kurt. We're not talking about Lockwood temporarily assuming Max Hardcore's predator voice and Cummz wearing pigtails and demented rodeo clown makeup while they bump uglies on a ratty yellow pleather couch culiminating in a golden shower.

I cut my teeth on Xin's work when, of course, he was with DVSX. I was impressed enough to review both Truly Nice Tits 7 and Truly Nice Ass 7. Since the move to Pulse, I've weighed in on Cheek Freaks, Naturally Stacked, PervAsian, and Short & Sleazy.

Skronker is right in saying that being with Pulse afforded Xin a little more freedom than his stint at DVSX. He's really developed his own "voice" over the past couple of movies and I've liked what I've seen. It's unfair of Ramsey to judge Bryan's currently by what he saw in the very first [invalid URL removed]Truly Nice Ass which was four years ago.

Xin's come a long way and yeah, I'll agree he deserves a bit more attention. But damned if I can bring myself to feel sorry for him as long as he has the dazzling Sun Chen on his arm!

However, I am definitely not inclined to take attention away from the true subject of this thread. I am the kind of person that will never get behind something I don't believe in with every fiber of my being. The same principle applies to Bryan and the kind of porn he makes. I always felt that if Bryan were given free reign on any project he attempted, it would be something really great. And turns out a few people agree with me.

With his recent foray into making features, the principle still applies. He wasn't given complete creative control over his first two projects, but that's changing. I'd like to think his feature work will be what so many people wish for: sex scenes as exciting as gonzo scenes, but with the high production values that features have.

And yes, I'd say the same even if we didn't live and work together. So there.

Oh, and yes, Xin does deserve a lot more love. He's one of the guys who makes me wish that XRCO had an "Unsung Director" category just like they do for male and female talent. As for Truly Nice Ass , even if I didn't like it, that was the guy's first or second movie. There are very few people who hit the ball out of the park on their first swing or two.

It's not even a prerequisite for me personally, but any Vivid girl who takes it in the ass and gets DP'd regularly is alright by me. She epitomizes what a contract girl should be -- whereas most of them nowadays have the weakest scenes in their OWN movies, Savanna ALWAYS has the strongest and makes sure you get your money's worth. When I heard Xin was shooting her I had a million questions...

It's been a while since I posted here. It's true that Pulse gave me the opportunity to make some movies that were more personal, allowing me to hone my style. I'm grateful because I've found, with gonzo companies, there aren't a lot of opportunities to do high quality work. This was one of the reasons why I started to move toward features. Don't get me wrong- there is a give and take. There are some things you can do in gonzo that you can't in features. However, after shooting a couple features for Vivid, I've found that there's a lot more room for me to move around in than most (not all) of the gonzo offerings.

I guess I can comment a little more on the features, and Savanna's Secret in particular, since the cat's out of the bag. Secret was sort of done on the back of a bigger feature (can't say the title yet) I was shooting, and it's light on the story line and heavy on the sex. The other movie had a storyline that was a bit more involved than Secret. I was working off someone else's scripts for both movies. The next features will be written by me. I'll say that there was somewhat of a learning curve going from shooting gonzo with a crew of 3 (production manager, makeup artist, and myself) to a crew of 10. Even now I have ideas about how to improve things the next time around.

I see that the cast list was posted and skronker mentioned that it didn't look like a typical feature cast list. He's right. One quality that I want to take from my gonzo work to my feature work is chemistry between performers. So I put people whom I thought would work well together. Speaking of chemistry, I noticed that Flower Tucci wasn't on the cast list posted, but she did a scene with Nikki Hunter and they definitely had chemistry.

I hope you all continue to like my work, whether I'm shooting gonzo or features or even something else. Thanks again.

As for the original topic, I'm really looking forward to seeing what Bryan can do with a few features. He's been honing himself very well with Pulse, and it's going to be really cool to see him continue to grow as a director. SS sounds like it should be able to start it easily, while still letting out his wonderful perverted mind. Vivid seems to be coming around pretty well in the last year or so, and it's great to see them recognizing the talent in Bryan.

I also have no doubt that Bryan will also become one of the top 3 feature directors in adult, and quite possibly the best, if he is given full creative freedom.

As a new company, we've been very lucky to have Bryan direct some of the best releases the industry has seen over the past year. The response we've received, particularly for 'Naturally Stacked' and 'Cheek Freaks', has been phenomenal.

As a director, Bryan combines both creativity and professionalism, assets which are critical to succeeding in the feature world, even more so perhaps than in gonzo.
(and having the best production manager in the business doesn't hurt either!).

This move towards feature films is a smart one for Bryan-and there's no reason why a director can't rise to the top in both the gonzo and feature worlds. Not many have succeeded in this, but considering the quality of Bryan's work for Pulse, and also having seen his mainstream film collection, there's no doubt Bryan will be making some very interesting (and perhaps a little twisted) features over the coming years!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with your features -- and this despite the fact that I almost never watch porn features. I watch them from time to time only to see particular babes that don't do gonzo, notably Savanna Samson and Devinn Lane. Hot sex scenes aside, the only porn feature that I've liked as a "movie"-movie is The Fasionistas.

What makes The Fashionistas work so well for me is that the sex is essential to the story and the story gives the sex context and urgency. I haven't seen any other porn features that integrate story and sex nearly as well.

It would be nice to see other directors follow Stagliano's example, hopefully even surpass his achievements. It's a tough synthesis to pull off, but I'm feeling optimistic about your chances of succeeding at it.
