It's not always shorter for web-only productions...can be longer than DVD releases actually. However, it does make me wonder whether or not the porn industry is cyclical in that it experiences seasonal variances in sales and therefore has to 'stock up' on shoots in anticipation of releasing new content for same. For example, in the typical retail trade, 4th quarter (Xmas, etc) typically drive the other 9 months of the year. Back-to-school (Aug) tends to drive the apparel market. Is there a seasonal "blip" on the porn radar accordingly? [Link] |

In other words, do you see more new talent entering the pool in direct relation to things like "life events" for the performers? For example, high school graduation is in the spring, college starts in August, so it would stand to reason you'd have a spike every year of new talent looking for work in the months between say June and August, correct? This would roughly translate to "new talent" hitting street releases in large quantities about the December to February marker, assuming 6-month lag from filming to release. Anyone care to provide further insight on the above? [Link] |

One producer I know for instance shoots all his movies in summer and than releases one every month over the year. Another reason can be a special title.
