Should I buy a DVD, from Excalibur Films, through Adult DVD Marketplace? Would this be a better option than just ordering directly from Excaliburfilms.com, Excaliber film's official website? Please reply. Thanks.

Kind of hard to answer without knowing more. Do they offer the same film in the same condition both places ? Which is cheaper if so and how much shipping etc..... Both methods are fairly reliable.

Go direct to Excalibur Films and ask the staff their specials before you decide. My advice, if you place an order in their cart and don't commit, in about an hour you'll get an automatic email with coupons to spur you to go back and complete your order. See if they would make your purchase cheaper. Good way to save and get a few free titles or discounts.
Just go with which ever has the better price. It really doesn't matter where you order it from it's treated the same way. If you're a member of EXCALIBUR when you order from them through ADM it will show up on your EXCALIBUR account and be tracked the same way. But if it isn't a brand new movie I would go to the EXCALIBUR site and see if it's in stock or if there's a waiting period.... HEY!!!! This is a thread from last year!!!! That's not correct. I just called 1-800-Buy-Movies and received a very pleasant call center employee from Excalibur. I was concerned by your post, as I am a regular customer of theirs and other adult retailers. I hope that their reputation is not damaged by your incorrect informaton. Don't know where you got the "About a week ago" comment. They've been around a long time and I like that they still provide a valued service for customers like us. I will continue to do business with them! Called the BBB. No issue. The BBB website will be corrected. I urge anyone to call Excalibur or go to their website (ExcaliburFilms.com)... it's all up and running. Hope this helps!
I don't care if they are still in business, I'll never buy from them again. Way back when, I bought one of their 'house special' DVD's of a movie that was only available on VHS elsewhere. What I got was a different movie from the same series. When I wrote their customer service explaining the situation I was promised the correct movie, but what I got was the exact same thing. What idiot doesn't check to make sure he's not just repeating his mistake? Last year, I decided to give them one more try when they were the only seller on ADM listing a movie that I wanted. Since they were just acting as distributors I figured they couldn't fuck this one up, but they did. I never got the movie, though I did get a "Woops, we ain't got it!" email promising they'd get it to me as soon as possible. Seven months later and still waiting. Well, I would be waiting if I expected them to ever follow through, but I don't.
I went through the same thing with them ordering through ADM and as a result decided to never order from them again. On their own site they at least have a box to click telling you if there's a wait or if it's in stock. There's nothing to let you know when they sell on ADM. But one would figure if they're going to sell on another site they're going to only list what they have in stock...but no. There's even a "Special Order" catagory at ADM for sellers who would have to order the movie from somewhere else and tell you you'll have to wait longer to get your movie but EXCALIBUR doesn't feel to list movies in that catagory even though it applies to what they actually do and the wait time could be from a week to never getting it all. Meanwhile they have you in limbo waiting for a movie that may or may not ever ship while you could've perhaps ordered from a another seller and avoided the hassle altogether. I used to be a fan and steady customer of EXCALIBUR but even if they hadn't done what they did to turn me off I still probably wouldn't buy from them anymore anyway. They've changed in the last couple of years and not for the better. Many other places simply offer better services and better deals theses days.

Since I do regulary order from Excalibur, I can help you out here. The following sections of their site are guaranteed in stock on any given day. This should make it easier for folks wanting to get stuff shipped the same day. These are just a few areas, found easily on their site. You can call them and they can also walk you through how to find same day shipping items. Go to their main page at http://www.ExcaliburFilms.com and you can click Buy Now for new releases that are in stock priced below most vendors, click Clearance for discounted titles that are in stock and only at $8.94 right now, and there are 2 Used options. One Used has higher prices for newer titles. The other Used is labeled as a $5 Used Special. I don't like waiting, so I order from these areas. Never a problem. If you want to rent in stock items, they have 32,000 titles updated daily. This is an improvement for their rental service. Before, you added just about anything from their site and wouldn't know when it would come in. Now, ordering from In Stock Rentals, you know it is also guaranteed. A second new feature is $1.99 rentals for their pay as-you-go individual rental program. As far as better deals, most companies don't even come close to their prices on movies and most toys. Take for instance Empire. Almost all of their titles are $3 to $10 more than Excalibur. On toys, I got a Pipedream Slut there at Excalibur for $1,000.00 recently during their sale, when most others are advertising up to $1,900.00. Plus, you get free shipping at $50 or more or free movies with every $50 spent. Their free shipping even expanded to include almost all toys, except oversized items. It's simply funny how they are hated on when they do so much to give us more for less than newer companies. Having been in business since '84, they must be doing something right. The same few people seem to be hating on them and it seems disturbing, especially when we are all here to help each other. It's like everytime I read something positive here about them, there is always the same folks trashing them. I met them in OC when they were walking with the ACS for breast cancer awareness, and know they give back to our community through feeding the homeless and helping with causes like battered women and children. You should be supporting good companies that represent our community with those kinds of efforts. At least I know when I spend my money with them, it goes more to something better than lining the pockets of the owners. If most people realized it, Marketplace is filled with many of the salespeople from adult companies that are selling sideways, undercutting and hurting the very companies that they work for. Do you find this an honest practice? There have also been so many times that I haven't been honored by other sellers there and now you can't even find them there anymore.
I used to regularly buy from Excalibur and was a customer for many years. In fact it's the first place I ever ordered adult movies online. They had deals and movies I couldn't find anywhere else. But over time the deals, hard to find movies and service became less and less and the incident with ADM was the thing that made me decide not to deal with them anymore. They've made quite a few changes since then and perhaps they're better at certain things or maybe I just had an unusualy run of bad luck with them and the things I had issues with weren't common. In any case, I have no reason to go back to ordering from them and I'm quite happy with my ADM service. I even expect my dealings with ADM to drop dramatically as I'm a member of a streaming site and my DVD purchases will be cut way back. Yes, we are here to help each other and part of that help includes telling others our personal experiences with various companies. I only tell my experiences to let people know what to look out for not bash a company for the sake of doing so. If you had nothing but positive experinces with Excalibur that great but that doesn't mean everyone else has. Just like some people here have had problems with ADM but I'm happy with their service. If you feel Excalibur offers great deals and service by all means let people know. And for people who are less than pleased with them they should let people know also and let people make up their own minds about whether or not to shop there.
First off.. Mike1120 works for Excalibur. Second... Excalibur fell by the wayside years ago. Their customer service went into the toilet. They never have new titles in stock. And now, they charge your credit card upfront and you have to wait three weeks to cancel or you will incur a "restocking fee"... for something NOT in stock. Their rental program sucks now. If you are on a four dvd plan, which I was, you have a limit of 8 dvds per month. But they take weeks to process new movies, you more like get two or three dvds a month. Now, they started charging for the monthly renewal almost a week before it is due. Just do yourself a favor, avoid them. Just not worth the headache.

It's probably fun to work there, but I protect and serve people like you, unfortunately. So first you trash a good company by stating they're out of business with nothing but your biased opinion to back that up. Obviously by their customer and fellow Adult DVD Talk contributor ZZZERO questioning how you could say that when they just were shipped two movies proves you wrong. Now you claim to know where I work. Do you treat everyone here the same way? They have an opinion that differs from yours and you then claim to know all about them. If I gave you a grade on your ability to play nice with others, it wouldn't be a good one. As far as new releases, I have had very little wait on in-stock items because I ask first, I read their stock status, and they are kind enough to show me the various areas on their site where items are that can ship same or next day. To me, that's pretty good customer service. Plus, you usually talk to the same reps and it's nice that they know what you like and can go that extra mile. I can be a pervert sometimes when I write them thank you letters for what their products do for me and they still don't treat me poorly. As far as companies charging up front or the restocking fee, they are not the only ones to do that. A lot of .com companies follow the same practice because people order and then are quick to cancel for various reasons. This leaves these companies with their necks on the line, as they spend to bring products in that ends up sitting on their shelves and comes with carrying costs. I won't hold that against them or any other online company. I received the same notice about their rental program changes. Do you realize that people were paying $10.95 a month and were receiving unlimited rentals which cost Excalibur more in shipping charges alone just to satisfy those customers. Since the changes, it has been better for us with higher plans, we actually get more selection. I can see why they changed their rental program. It's more fair to east and west coast customers. They kept several unlimited options, but you now have to pay a higher monthly fee, which is still cheaper than most. You said you were on a plan 4 and had 8 DVDs per month. At a plan 4, you paid half the price for 8 movies with Excalibur versus what you would have paid with others like Empire. They don't take weeks to process new movies. I've ordered from them and use their in stock rentals list. If you go with their individual rentals, they are also in stock and cost as low as $1.99. If you like DVDs by mail, I'd recommend them. One more item... if Excalibur is as bad as you claim they are, Mr. Guru, then why do so many contributors here tend to use Excalibur when referencing their favorite stars and movies. Talkers must be still going on this site that you claim fell by the wayside. As a matter of fact, you've inspired me to go put in my next order!
Yes, I got a notice that two movies had been shipped out to me so I don't think they're out of business, but don't take that as an endorsement of the company. I think the new rental plan changes are total bullshit. Excalibur caps your monthly rentals unless you pay for an expensive plan. They say this is better than the other clubs but that's utter nonsense. xrent, bush, sugar, and empire all have unlimited rentals even on the lower plans. But what really annoys me about Excalibur is the surcharge for every rental. After you sign up, at some point a movie will get lost in the mail after which they'll start charging you a 50 cent surcharge on every rental. They call this delivery insurance. Then, if another movie will get lost in the mail later they'll up your surcharge to $1 per movie. So you end up with capped monthly rentals plus a surcharge on every title they do send out. How is it that with all the other clubs I've almost never had a movie lost in the mail, but with Excalibur I'm such a mail risk that I need to pay a surcharge on every movie they ship to me? So why am I even still a customer? Only because they have some titles that no other rental club has. So I put up with it and the extra fees because I want those titles. When I run out of unique titles that interest me I don't see myself continuing my rental plan. Certainly not with caps and surcharges.

Could you suggest titles that they have that no one else seems to carry? Adult DVD rentals that are out of print are like vinyl records to me... Not easy to find, but well worth enjoying when you can find them.
The unique titles are mainly classics from the 1980s. Titles they mark as "PKG: Excalibur Films" are things they have transferred from VHS tapes to DVD and those are usually only available on DVD from them. The quality is basically the same as a VHS tape so be aware of that. Don't expect a newly remastered transfer from the original source because that's not what these are. Sometimes one of these movies on Excalibur DVDs is later officially released by the studio and in those cases you'll want to make sure to rent the official release as the quality there will always be better, but most of the time the Excalibur DVD is the only way to get this movie. The other unique titles are more recent titles that you run into now and again that have disappeared from the other rental clubs. For me, it sometimes happens then I'm looking for a title and can't find it at the other rental clubs and then am pleasantly surprised to see that Excalibur has a copy in stock for rental. I can't really point you to a list of those as you can't predict at all when this will happen. One random example of this is "A Load in Every Hole 10". Stock at the rental clubs changes all the time so a few weeks from now this may no longer be a unique title or Excalibur may not have it anymore.
Excalibur used to have all those 70/80s movies they transferred to DVD under one listing and they still might do that but the site has changed quite a bit since I looked at those titles. They were pretty cheap. I think they might be under the "DVDs under $5.00" or "In STOCK" or "Classics" link or whatever. I'm sure they're still there somewhere on the site if you look. I think you can buy them "new" in a generic DVD case with Excalibur cover or buy "used" where they mail them in a sleeve. Go with "used" because they charge more for "new" to mail the same movie in a case. But like I said they've changed a lot since I bought any movies from them. But they did offer a lot of older stuff not available elsewhere or offered on DVDs. The quailty varies from title to title but most times the picture on par with a good VHS image.

Thanks guys... I couldn't recall where I was asking in the forum. Ordered a few of their classics and appreciate the advice. Enjoyed seeing titles that I thought were all but impossible to find.
