Well, that sucks. Tried placing an order with DVD Empire today and found out they no longer ship to Louisiana....the site won't let me view back covers either. Don't mean to whine and I'm sure I'll get a blah, blah, blah corporate response but this is just ridiculous. I can drive 5 minutes away and rent/buy all the porn I want and I can order from any number of online retailers but DVD Empire won't sell to me. There is being cautious in business, which with this current administration I understand but then there is just being fearful. Frustrating, very frustrating.

They typically don't indiscriminately add states or other regions to the no-ship list. I suspect there was a recent court case that prompted the decision. Or maybe this one?
With these cases in mind do you think it's just fear or sound business sense?
I think the whole matter is stupid and insane. I'm a 40 year old adult and I can decide what is moral and what is obscene in my own life. I also fail to see how mail order business affects any so-called "community standards." It is a private transaction between a company & an individual. I don't know who I'm angry with...I mean it's freaking 2004 and we've still got people telling other people what they can and cannot watch. This whole thing is absurd.

I don't think that anyone at DVD Empire disagrees with you. They're just not going to take the chance of going to jail over it. If Louisiana can elect enough sane people into office so that this is no longer a concern, I'm sure that DVD Empire would jump back into Louisiana in a heart beat.

bill - elect sane people? sane people don't run for office.
max, i share your frusturation. not because i can't get porn delivered to me, but because there are just so many idiotic laws. and instead of changing idiotic laws our legislative bodies keep coming up with more idiocy.

LOL, sane people for election..that's a good one. Well I feel you Max but maybe Vince is right. For future reference not only you need to look for decent schools, nice neighborhoods, good property values, you need to look for states that aren't on the "no porn shipping" list!
Some things you can't decide for yourself...stuff like where you are born and where your family lives. Believe me, if not for family obligations I'd still be in Chicago. New Orleans is a great place to visit but it sucks to live here.

You better apologize. I hear DVD Empire has some well-financed cells located across the nation and one very near you. If no apology is forthcoming in 24 hours, they will unleash one of their horrible flesh-eating Samoans on you and your genetic line shall cease to exist. Be forewarned. They will find you.
This is getting ridiculous. DVD Empire now has a list of states, cities and zip codes where it won't ship. In some states you can get movies but not novelties while other places it's vice versa. In Texas you can't get anything shipped to the big cities or certain zip codes. I didn't know freedom was only available in certain states.
Yesterday Janet Jackson. Today Howie Stern. Tomorrow pornography. Bush and the religious right are coming to a location nearest you. Hide your valuable DVD's. They will become more valuable in the underground market.
The no ship list is getting bigger and less logical. So they'll ship to a small podunk Texas town but they won't ship to Houston? Whatever. So long ADE. Even if you do change your no ship list I won't be ordering from you.
I feel for you man. Texas just got dropped from ADM as well - well almost all of Texas except for El Paso? go figure - guess they don't need porn down there so close to the border. We've got porn shops galore here yet people are scared to send it here - the fears got everyone goin' crazy. Time to get out there and help make a change or it will definetely get worse. moveon.org - check it.
I was just getting ready to order from AdultDVD Empire, only to find that along with Louisiana, they won't ship to Mississippi either! (I'm close to the LA state line).
Does anyone have a list of their mailing areas?
I've got a porn watching buddy in Alaska who's offered to receive them for us, then ship 'em down. Seems like a real pain in the ass.
I can understand these companies having fears of criminal charges. Even if they win, they still rack up a huge bill for legal expenses. That could put a small company out of business. I guess you guys can buy from a larger company with it's own legal staff, like Larry Flynt. I really hope Bush loses this election. At this point I don't care who wins as long as it isn't Bush.
Just be sure to get out and vote. I'm wondering if mail order companies will change their do not ship lists if and when Bush loses. The thing I don't get are the adult video producers who are sympathetic to Bush when he's in effect taken money out of their wallets. I would have ordered some DVD's recently but my area has suddenly been banned by two of the major online retailers.
Hi Empire Man... was checking out your "no-ship" list, and noticed it said you could ship DVDs to France, but not VHS. That seems odd. What's the deal? (It doesn't really effect me, but I'm still curious)
To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure exactly why. Especially for foreign countries... Most likey because of a law they have or a recent prosecution in that area. The important thing to remember is that we do not use shipping to discriminate or censor certain customers. If it was up to us we'd want everyone, everywhere to be able to shop at our site. But when you are in a high visiblity position like we are you have to be safe and follow the laws.
