| GaySatyr Senior Member  Half dirty ol' man; half horny ol' goat! 1684 Posts 10/00 |  Posted - Dec 18 2001 : 4:51PMCaballero is reissuing a number of gay classics; however, there is some mis-information involved: Their reissue of Boys in the Sand is actually Men in the Sand - the sequel made by Wakefield Poole in 1986, 15 years after the 1971 original. Casey Donovan reprised his role in the sequel; however, the other cast members are different. I have been unable to determine if Closed Set is actually the Joe Gage original; or, as I suspect to be more likely, a remake, also by Gage, called Closed Set II. I really appreciate Caballero's effort and investment in these reissues which are not likely to be big sellers; however, I think their target audience would be better served and more likely to buy were the information (& titles) provided more accurate. ~ GaySatyr  [Link] |

I understand that a good deal of the 35mm film footage has been lost or destroyed; however, the footage IS available on old Sony Beta-format releases of the original "GageTapes." Just looking at the new box art quickly made me think it was just another cheap porn flick. And speaking of Joe Gage, did anyone check out the new 5 movie DVD 5 Joe Gage Classics? How in gods name did they get 5 movies on one DVD? I know Joe Gage flicks are normally short, but even if each movie is only 1 hour, there is still no way to cram that much data on 1 DVD without having to turn compression on way too high. [Link] |
