Some news on the pending release of "Caligula" in DVD boxset style, with restored footage, commentary and the like: Alan Jones blog.
It's pretty exciting. Guccione no longer owns the footage, so the producer is able to reconstruct a lot from the original material that was shot. And everyone is signing on for the commentaries. Pretty cool.
I've heard about this movie since it was released back in 1980 (or was it 1979?), but I have never seen it. I've heard that it was an ambitious effort that ended up getting botched up badly. To my knowledge it's the only movie with big-name actors and hardcore sex scenes. There's even a review of the movie on this website. Maybe someday I'll finally see it.
This is intriguing, I wonder how they will organize it. I've read that it was mostly put together with alot of footage that wasn't even intended to be used. I've always thought it wasn't bad anyway.
Being a subscriber to Penthouse at the time I couldnt wait to see the movie after reading some hype on it, and for what it was I must say I really enjoyed it. I had invited my g-friend at the time to come over and watch it with me and she sounded very excited and the best part was after she mentioned this to her girlfriend she wanted to see it aswell, and I have to tell you after the orgy scene things got real heated and by that time we probably had a few lines and some cocktails in us and thats when I experienced my 1st 3 way! NO BULLSHIT , not a very good one but still a 3 way. And yes I still have this movie and will go down as a real classic for me : )
Hail Caligula
with that said any other prod/direct out there wanna do a high-budget movie as such??
