I am just curious as to what happens to the cameraman when he is filming a hot scene.
I mean surly they must get horny watching and filming pretty luscious and naked girls fucking lewdly right before their camera.

Do they get excited while filming? How do they cope with their own erections? or do they get a chance themselves when the scene is over?

I don't think they're allowed to jerk off while filming a hot scene. what do you think?

Are there any movies which shows the involvment of the cameraman with the female cast?

Mostly what I'm thinking when I'm shooting that what's happening in front of my camera will never happen again, and that I've got one chance to get it right.
If/when I get arroused while filming, I take that as encouaging sign. Hopefully other people will also get aroused when they have a chance to see what I am seeing.
That would be a silly waste of an opportunity. If I wanted to jerk off while people fucked in front of me, it would be much more fun to do that without the inconvience and expense of bringing a film crew along for the ride.
If you look hard enough you can probably find something like this.

You never watched a POV DVD, didn't you?

Lots of cameramen in Gonzo are also director, producer and swordsman right at the same moment.

I've also, often wondered about the secretive, opportunistic life, of an ever-so-steady handed cameraman.
Thanks Tony, while I'm sure the answer is in there somewhere, its interesting that it apparently requires mastering the fine art of doubletalk.

The Cameraman becomes part of the sex scene. He/she does the dance with those in the scene. The movements become one. Thus the cameraman has to feel everything, with the preformers. So, sure, the camerman gets turned on... at least that's when you know you're shooting something hot. Though, when it's over, it's over. It's not like everyone in the room cums and then it's like... "Wait guys, what about me?" It's a professional situation. How would anyone handle getting aroused at work? You know when to keep it in your pants and when not. The camerman is the cameraman. To be a good cameraman in porn, you certainly should be a sexual creature. But, know the boundaries. Of course, just like life, it's never black and white. POV vs. straight gonzo shooting vs feature. Yet, there it is... in color, for your eyes... what the camera man is doing. In terms of what everyone does once the camera stops rolling and they go home for the night... that's like any other profession.

To be clear I certainly meant no disrespect, but merely in jest.
Infact, from my perspective, such a mindset takes professionalism to a new level altogether.

Given the recent popularity of POV, and the sudden influx of performers it has seen venture seemingly without haste, behind the lense, I'd have to admit, that any prior sense of ethics I may of had, would be rattled, if not jeopardized to say the least.

Actually, knowing very little of what I speak on this subject, I'll cease and desist here.

No offense taken. Maybe this will further your understaning:

I like to surf. I also admire great surf photography and cinematography, and I've often fantasized about making similar images or shooting footage. But in the end, if the waves are good enough to make good photos, I'd rather be riding them than shooting other people riding them. This is especially true because I don't imagine I'd bring anything meaningfully different to shooting surf. Let somebody who really loves making surf images take a nice snap of me getting shacked.

Conversely, I think that I bring something utterly unique to shooting sex. Whether or not that's objectively true doesn't matter – when I shoot footage of a couple having good sex, or even stills of a pretty girl spreading her legs, I feel I'm doing something special, something only I can do, and something I can only do with a camera in my hands. Never minding that strong boundaries allow a couple to really cut loose and enjoy themselves without worrying they might be misinterpretted, if my wife and I put down our cameras and jumped in we'd be trading the chance to do something we only get to do a few times a year for something that (if we wanted to) we could do every weekend.

Don't get me wrong. I like (the idea of) getting my dick sucked by two chicks as much as the next guy. But when actually manage to get a cube van full of gear, a DP, a sound man, a PA, 2000 feet of film, and a couple that really wants to fuck on film all in the same place at the same time, I have the chance to do something a lot rarer than getting my asshole eaten and cock sucked at the same time.

That does offer a picture of greater depth and scope,
and given those comparisons, becomes far more relatable with other common individual pursuits.
For some of us, I suppose its a hopeless subject to even contemplate.
Pervs to the core, the concept is one that relative values fail to compute with much of anything, let alone if one happened to be within five feet of any breathtaking gapers.

I have come across a few flicks that actually show this, mostly in BTS footage, but some also in the main feature. But let me warn you, I am not really good at recollecting movie titles off the top of my head, but if you want me to find out for certain for you, just say so and I will.

But anyway, one movie that I remember is one that came out by Evasive Angles. I think it is "Big Butt Smashdown," but I'm not really sure. Anyway, the movie has Lannie Barbie in the opening scene, but that's not the scene I am referring to. The last scene in that movie has Darren James (pre-AIDS scare obviously) with two fine assed Brazilian chicks. At the beginning of the scene, while Darren is getting his double BJ, the cameraman (not an EA performer or director) whips out his dick and one of the girls comes out over to suck it for some POV action while the cameraman is still also filming Darren and the other chick. After a few minutes, the cameraman backs out of the scene and leaves Darren alone with the two chicks again. But then, at the end of the scene, his dick reappears to assist Darren in delivering a double shot of nut to the girls' faces. There were also cuts in various parts of the scene, especially towards the end, which led me to believe that there were parts when the cameraman probably put down the camera to join in the action without filming it, which I suspected was how he was able to nut so quickly at the end. Also, as far as Evasive Angles is concerned, in alot of the BTS footage of their movies, although they don't necessarily show the cameraman in action with the talent, there are always comments made by the actors which imply that the crew gets in on the action with the girls too.

There was also a movie released by either Zero Tolerance or Third-Degree (I can't remember which, and I also can't remember the title), and it was directed by Mick Blue. In the bonus scene of the movie, the cameraman, who I think was Chris Streams, was sitting down getting a blowjob from Sandra Romain while they were waiting for Mark Ashley to show up so the scene could start. When Mark did show up, Chris had to reluctantly end the BJ and take over the filming duties from Mick who was also in the scene.

Also, just look at David Luger's movies. Although he never appears in the main feature, pretty much all of his flicks have bonus scenes of him getting fucked and/or blown by the chicks in his movies.

In addition, Johnny Darko recently relased "Suck It Dry" (one title I can finally remember) from Evil Angel. Mostly all of the chicks in that movie were chicks who had appeared in other movies of his. I am convinced that the whole movie, "Suck It Dry," was composed entirely of BTS blowjobs he had gotten from girls on the sets of his other movies, and decided to compile them all together into one movie. This is not to say that it still wasn't a hot movie.

Basically, I think anybody who thinks that cameramen don't sporadically get in on the action as well is fooling themselves. Of course, there are some porn chicks who are strictly business and are just there to get fucked, get their money, and go home, and that's it. However, especially if the cameraman is also the director or has enough clout, they can easily get in on the action as well later. For instance, another example that comes to mind is the movie "Take It Black #3" (I think!). In the BTS footage, while the cameraman/director, who is Van Styles by the way, is interviewing Jasmine Byrne after her fuck scene is over, she begins to crawl towards him while she is still naked. When she gets close enough to Van, he turns the camera off. Who knows what happened after that?

If a cameraman jerked off while filming, the camera work we would see would be worse than we get now. Camera moving around (bouncy picture), not pointed the right way, not focused properly.

Actually, this would explain a lot.

If I were a director or producer, if a cameraman did that once, I would never hire them again. That stunning lack of professionalism would also be made known to all I know.

realtip, you don't think this is all done for your viewing pleasure? POV is a great tool. It's gives the viewer the feel that he's as close to fucking the girl as possible. And of course, we all know how well reality TV does... though, we all know how non real reality TV is. Keep in mind, if the camera is rolling, that cameraman better have a current HIV test (with 30 days.) So, most likely, he came to shoot and fuck (or be sucked.) Chris Streams is a male performer, and yes, a director. There are many different kinds of cameramen. And, croy, it generally is quite professional, again, as evidenced in the titles listed by realtip. I am sure these directors/camera men had things planned out as such, at least before the camera started rolling, and HIV/STD test was exchanged. Kind of kills the mood for anything crazy and spontaneous, don't you think? And croy, POV is a top seller. A good cameraman knows how to fuck and shoot all at the same time. Doesn't mean all cameramen are good.

I know POV sells well. But that person is both a cameraman and performer. The question was about cameramen not in the scene (purposely).

Ah, croy, my mistake. Just realized you said, "jerking off while filming." Yes, this would be an interesting one. Hmmmm... maybe I have to try this. Haha. I don't think this really ever happens. POV, would be the closest. And of course, that's the cameraman as director as preformer. Cameraman in porn certainly is a loaded profression, huh? Haha.

I have been a cameraman in porn for 13 years. The thing that arouses me the most during a scene is good lighting. When I can light a scene with the least amount of shadow possible but without looking like it's being shot in a K-Mart I am extremely happy and when I'm happy I shoot a good scene.
As far as being tempted to fondle my johnson or jump in on the action? Never. As soon as I look through the viewfinder my mind is preoccupied with all things technical. However if I wasn't holding a camera I'm sure it would be a different story :)

I know I'm only speaking for myself here, but I personally am not a big fan of POV. I know, for some reason, it has become a really popular genre, but I would much prefer for someone else to be holding the camera rather than the same guy who is doing the fucking. In fact, I think the reason this whole POV genre started was because directors wanted to fuck the girls themselves, but wanted to save money by not having to pay a cameraman to film it. So, the directors get to save money all around by not having to pay for male talent or for a cameraman. Then, the next thing you know, everybody and his brother is doing POV movies.

I, however, just don't care for it. With POV, it is very limited on how much of the action is showing, and I like to see everything that's going on. Yes, everything, even including the guy (and yes, I am very straight). POV does not make me feel like I'm any closer to the girl than any other type of porn does. The only thing that would make me feel that close to the girl is if I'm actually the one fucking her. Other than that, she's still just another chick on screen who somebody else is fucking. POV makes no difference to me in that regard.

Nonetheless, this is not to say that there not some excellent POV flicks out there. For instance, David Luger shoots alot of excellent POV footage in his bonus scenes. Also, Johnny Darrko does awesome POV as well in "Suck It Dry" and "In Your Mouth And On Your Face." Plus, Brandon Iron provides great POV in some of his footage of girls giving him blowjobs in POV. Vince Voyeur does some good POV too. But besides those few exceptions, I don't find most of it to be at all exciting. I say just give me ordinary porn where a guy is holding a camera recording other people fucking. But that's just me. I guess alot of other people must like POV, which is why just about every studio has at least one POV series.

Mike Quasar, those 13 years are always apparent. Even when someone else is credited on the cover, it's obvious when you have the camera.

When I shoot my conctration is totally on the action. it doesn't matter what I shoot, my concentration on catching the action or telling a story with the camera over powers anything that is in front of it, whether it's something really sexy, gross, or otherwise. yes I do get turned on by hot girls and action but there is a time and place for that.

About extra curriculms... I choose to treat everyone on the set with the utmost respect no matter if they are talent, crew, or location owner. I take the approach i use in main stream stuff I shoot. It's not about me the cameraguy getting my jollies off, it's about being professional, treating people with respect and the same will come to you. I don't use my position for anything more then just what I am there for, directing/shooting. If people want to fool around more power to them as long as everyone is in to it.

Here is a link to an article I wrote after my first day on a porn set.

Realtip, sorry if I personalized anything. I was really referring to your last paragraph of your first post on this thread. ie Van Styles. I wasn't there, but I bet he let that camera roll with Jasmine and then cut for that added fun, to go with the fantasy of it, but didn't really do it. As Mike Quasar and so many others have said, it's getting your shots (which again, for me means feeling the moment of the fuck, until it's over, and then it's over.) So, I imagine Van and these other directors/camermen are much more focused on the work at hand, then getting into the action. Again, POV, and these sort of "set-up" shots excluded. I understand your feelings on the POV. I have come to appreciate it, provided it's not a big old hairy belly in the way of the action. I recently put a strap-on on and fucked a girl POV style. It was certainly interesting, but yes, was missing some of the flexibility to be a bit freer in movement. And, funny enough, I wasn't nearly as aroused as when I'm shooting others fucking. Maybe the answer to this whole question is... aren't camermen really voyeurs? My last thought on this thread is... my heart goes out to the girls who would feel the need to fuck a cameraman/director in something that was not planned, simply because that cameraman/director has some supposed clout, on or off camera. Maybe we should be looking at the producers for that one... well, one guy who calls himself "a producer." I guess in any profession there are those who use their "power" to get in the "secretaries'" panties. But, it certainly doesn't make for good porn.

Depends on whether or not they "open up" the action for the camera.
