It has an ethernet port and has WiFi capability. She had connected an ethernet cable between the satellite box and the BR player (just because it was the same size/shape port). I immediately removed the ethernet cable, then I asked her for WiFi password, and proceeded to navigate to the on-screen menu for BR player networking setup. To my surprise, I never made it to the password input screen. It displays a message about updates found, and asks permission to download/install updates. wtf?? I say yes but I just know it's gonna "connection fail"....but it downloads and installs the update! The owner is adamant that she NEVER did any network setup, she never even knew the screen existed, nor did anyone else do the setup for her. So...is it possible the Sony Blu-Ray player has capability to automatically connect to a password-protected WiFi network, without requiring the user to input a password?
