Was there any sign that the packet that the discs were delivered to you in had been tampered with psycho? If so, then the missing disc might have gone astray in transit (mistakenly or otherwise).
If there was no sign of tampering/packet having become open during transit then I reckon that maybe it was just a genuine error on the part of Adult Video Universe. Maybe email them to let them know what's happened and maybe they'll send you a replacement for the missing disc (though I don't know what their position will be on this for sure of course).
If your package had been opened by Customs (very unlikely with regard to orders placed from US suppliers) they would have indicated that they done so with a sticker on the outside of the parcel I believe, so don't reckon you've had the missing one confiscated.
Any evidence your package was opened (and items confiscated)? Have you contacted the shipper?
Assuming you paid with a credit card, you will have some recourse over being charged for items you did not receive. Contact the shipper, dot your "i's," cross your "t's" and make a complaint with your credit card company if necessary.
The jiffy bag I recieved my order in, had in my opinion been tampered with - it had been resealed with sellotape.
I have found this with previous orders though, from Adult and other suppliers but haven't had anything go 'missing' up til now.
I have contacted Customer service at Adult. But, unfortunately they do not work weekends. So I will have to wait until Monday, at least to get a reply. In the mean time I'll just have to enjoy the other Dvd's - i'm sure
psycho - it's either been nicked by someone in transit or someone at Adult Video Universe has forgotten to put it in with the others.
If Adult Video Universe don't offer to replace it for you (it might have been a genuine mistake on their part after all) then I would just put it down to experience and take your business elsewhere in future. Many other US retailers ship without the boxes (which is much more subtle) and get good reviews here. In this instance they will just send you the discs and covers and it's then up to you to supply your own boxes if you want them (you can get them easily and fairly cheaply on Ebay if you want) or you can just buy a CD holdall down your local Office World/HMV to put your discs in.
Companies like Lasersedge, Adult DVD Today, Adult DVD Now and Fivestar all seem to get quite good results according to posts in this part of the forum and do quite well on this front (shipping without boxes/in cardboard Global Priority Envelopes instead). Beware the fact that Fivestar always disclose the total amount of the goods ordered however.
I should have said incidentally that you have to usually choose the no cases method as the above (apart from Adult DVD Today I think) do allow you to ship with boxes if you want.
There's been a bit of discussion recently amongst us about deliveries which seem to have been tampered with along the line somewhere (ironically this has happened with the global priority envelope/no cases shipping method which I mentioned above). In these instances the discs which people have ordered have been removed somewhere along the line and replaced with crap porn which wasn't what was ordered. It seems to be the case that this is either happening somewhere in Customs or at one of the Royal Mail sorting offices (probably Mount Pleasant). It does seem rare however and I still think that the no cases option is the better/more subtle method to go for.
Your situation - where two of the discs that you ordered turned up but the third didn't - is, I think, fairly unusual in terms of what I've seen in the way of posts in this section of the forum. The fact that you got two through at all makes me personally think that it is more likely to be the case that the missing third one is down to human error at Adult Video Universe's end. If your package had been opened by someone in transit then it seems strange to me personally that they left you with the 2 discs.
Additionally, it might have been the case that Adult Video Universe used the sellotape in the first place to secure the jiffy bag (although I don't know what their procedures are with regard to packaging for sure). Certainly when I have ordered from suppliers where the goods have been sent in jiffy bags the latter have always been secured with brown parcel tape before despatch - as this is the condition they have always turned up in and the tape was always used in exactly the same fashion.
If Adult Video Universe are worth their salt they'll replace the item for you free of charge I would have thought. If not (and admittedly they're probably not obliged to) then I would personally give one of the companies I mentioned above a shot. Good luck!
(PS Another excellent supplier is Orgazmik in Switzerland - www.orgazmik.com - they're the best supplier in my experience, though not the cheapest)
Hi Psycho, sorry to hear about the problem. I just wondered if you know if Adult Video Universe actually shipped the third disc - I've never used this store so I don't know how they operate, but did you get a confirmation email or do they offer access to account details where you can check order status etc?
It seems that you know the system pretty well. I will take your advice and get onto Adult and sort things out(fingers X). I'll keep you posted on the outcum.
Gabriel Nine - to put matters straight about Adult. They have been a good supplier for me so far(except for this situation, which maybe out of their control)and I would use them again. They do give confirmation emails and account status and on both occasion with this order they have stated that the order was complete.
I'm only a relative newcomer here/on the buying scene abroad so I can only offer what I know/what I've picked up on from reading through the lists of back-threads using the ADT search facility (this makes for a lot of interesting reading by the way). There are alot of people around here who've got quite a bit more experience in this field than me....but hope that my perceptions on your problem help anyway
Good news - Adult have honoured me with a replacement, which I think is quite reasonable under the circumstances with all these 'what if's' flying about.
How long did you have to wait for the first 2 DVD's to arrive? I ordered 6 DVD's from Adult Video Universe which were shipped to me 2 weeks ago but still nothing. It vexes me. I'm terribly vexed.
Have you ordered from Adult video Universe before? If so, how long did it take? I usually receive my orders, in England (depending on holidays), about 2-3 weeks after placing them. So, there is nothing unusual about your waiting time, sorry! I know it must be frustrating, but I think you may have to sit tight for a couple more days, or just email Adult customer service and explain the situation, they are usually very helpful.
I know that delivery is a long process from Adult(some of my shipments have taken forever!) Just an idea, maybe being that the order is so big, customs may have taken a few days more to clear it I know you have alot tied up with this order, but stick with it Maybe, check the shipping info on Adult to see if there is anything that applies(you have probably done this already, but it is worth a try). Can you track this order? If not, you have just wait unfortunately. But keep us posted
Ramsey.....i too have had to wait over a month for an order from Adultvideouniverse. I was about to give up on it when i received a note from the post office saying i had a customs fee to pay.
Adultvideouniverse had declared the full value of my order and it had been held up for weeks while they processed the VAT owed. Then came the Royal Mail clearance fee.
I had ordered from them before but only 1 or 2 dvds at a time. And from now on thats all i would ever purchase. In fact i would even pay more and go to someone else who is more international customer friendly.
Do they still refuse to unpack dvds and send them in global priority envelopes? Whats up with that? No one at customs was going to miss this bloody great bulky parcel.
They may have some of the cheapest 'redlightdistrict' dvds going but not if you have to order them 1 at a time.
Damn, I always thought they only shipped artwork and discs no boxes because shipping boxes means customs mess with it.
I only order from them because they have Ed Powers titles which I can't find anywhere else so I'm forced. I would rather buy them from AdultDVDNow or FiveStarDVD but they don't sell them. AdultDVDNow doesn't sell any Ed Powers movie actually.
Simple answer is they don't. But any decent retailer will at least do something to help you - the best will give you replacements. To retain you as a long-term repeat customer makes good business sense.
Actually FiveStarDVD and Lasersedge have shipped to me replacements for missing packages but I doubt cduniverse will do the same if they're really lost because I hardly buy from them and after this I doubt I ever will.
I can't remember anyone posting from Adultvideouniverse here.
From now on I will stick with FiveStarDVD, AdultDVDNow, Lasersedge and EroDVD.
I think the big problem is the fact that they also ship the boxes which means it makes it more attractive to steal, unlike just envelopes with only the discs and artwork.
This is why I only order from a couple of consistant places. The downside is there's some specific stuff I might not be able to get, but OTOH this doesnt happen to me.
I also won't order from any place that can't take the 2 minutes to take the discs out of their cases and put them in a flat sleeve.
Ramsey, have you contacted them about the order at all?
I haven't contacted them because I doubt that will help. I mean the only thing they will say is that they shipped it on the date mentioned and they can't do anything about it anymore so I have to accept the loss.
Ramsay, Any GOOD retailer should honour their order(if they have no proof of shipment being delivered) - It works both ways, you know. So, I suggest that you spend 5 minutes drafting an email to them, explaining the whole situation, from foreplay to climax. Cos, if you don't your gonna lose from always. Think about it, it's worth a try! psycho
You can only try. Different retailer handle things in different ways. As Psycho pointed out, taking 5mins to compose an email won't hurt you - after all, you've posted about it 12 times in this thread already!
Actually it looks like I'm at the bottom when it comes to ordering DVD's. Yesterday I tried to buy 12 DVD's at AdultDVDNow but somehow they declined my creditcard so tomorrow I have to call my creditcard company and ask what's going on.
Actually I think it has more to do with that large creditcard fraude that took place a couple of weeks ago. Maybe they blocked my card also. I will know today.
