When that mouse failed, a friend suggested I purchase a wireless mouse to replace it.
I purchased a Gear Head brand, aftermarket wireless mouse for my computer from Wal-Mart.
It worked for a while, yet, it would fail when the batteries died.
Using it also caused a problem with my computer because the Gear Head brand mouse was not compatible with my HP computer.
Soon after I started to use the Gear Head wireless mouse, my computer would start up on occasion with a black screen and a task bar at the bottom.
The task bar read, "loading files" as it scrolled across the bottom of the screen.
Then a different screen would appear then my computer would shut down and go into restore mode.
Files marked as "CyberLink" would be installed.
My guess these "CyberLink" files were part of the update software for the Gear Head mouse and somehow when the mouse would "phone home" and update files would be loaded on my computer, causing a problem.
Odd, the problem did not occur with my wife's lap top made by Toshiba. She uses a Gear Head brand wireless mouse with no problem.
After many attempts to discover the source of this start up problem, I'm certain the use of this after market mouse was the cause.
So, if you're going to replace the mouse for your computer, I'd suggest you purchase a mouse that was built by the same company that made the computer.
To do otherwise and you may have the same problem I had.
