I was just thinking about some of the hottest porn scenes I have ever witnessed and wondered if the performers were really into the scenes, or just acting.
My question is simple. Can a girl be 100% sexually detached from the experience when she's sucking a c**k or eating a pussy. Even though she looks like she is enjoying it. Perhaps she has other things on her mind, like her credit card bill or her new cell phone a friend bought her for her birthday...
In other words can a porn chick be totally turned off by a sexual act the majority of us would feel totally into.
What I'm basically saying is it just a job?

I don't believe a woman, at least one who hopes to make it in the industry in the mid to long term, can hope to engage in countless acts of sex and not at least partly enjoy it. We have all heard of the performers who come in, do some scenes to make some money, then leave in less than a year, but the ones who really enjoy it you can tell are doing it more than for the job.
"I am so glad you enjoy watching me! I don't really see myself as a "performer" though as there is very little "performing" on my end, I just fuck and have fun. I am SO blessed to be able to do what I love and be able to make a living off of it!"
They do it because of their genuine love for sex and their perverted part of their personality that gets off showing this to as many people as possible. You can tell that they forget that the camera is there and that they do not care how they look or care how they sound
"I have a genuine love and passion for fucking on film. I do not perform, I fuck....My strongest point and what differentiates me from the other performers is my extreme love and passion for the art of filthy, down and dirty fucking. I do not care if my hair or makeup gets fucked up, I don't care if people think I look silly, I do what I enjoy and nobody ever said sex is supposed to be pretty. If sex is pretty, you're doing it wrong."
You can tell that they are utterly into the scene with the chemistry they have with their co-performer; you can see that they need no direction to transition from one part of the scene to the next and that they are able to just naturally go with the flow of the sex because they are so focused on it.
"I had no idea where the camera was- I kicked it once during an O- lol- I was a total handful! I lost my mind I tell ya!!! Fucking is really really good for you, making love is nice and special but I firmly believe all of us need to FUCK a lot!!! I could be having a shitty day and stressed out, fucking makes it alllllll magically go away!!! Love it!!! ;-)))))"
They are focused on pleasuring themselves and their co-performer above all other aspects of the scene, because this is what makes it most real. The ones who make it most real are the ones who do it for the sex and pleasure of being watched by others. So in a nutshell, it is a job for all performers, that much is obvious. But for some more than others - the Veronica Avluv's, Leya Falcon's, Jada Stevens', Ashley Fires', for example - the pleasure is the job.
"It is exactly what I strive for- to be intimate and personal... For the very nature of what I do on camera is intimate and raw and vulnerable- even though I may never meet some of you in person, I know I'm sharing a very unique energy and force of pleasure with you all.... It is a gift to be able to give it- and in many ways- I feel that I've had intimate moments with each and every fan out there just by the sheer fact that pleasure and excitement has been given and received on a quantum physics level so to speak. I feel that we are all in need of intimate connection- to share experiences of pleasure. It's a really cool thing I get to do- I Always am aware when I'm shooting that the sexual energy and joy is going to go far beyond that room, the people present and the time it's being shot. Yes, I feel open to you all... We've shared something special together!"

^^ i see what you described all the time in professional porn, overacting and discomfort, but what can you expect? the performers are being watched by other people and must always be aware of the camera. sex is an intimate thing and in order enjoy the act to the fullest you have to forget everything around you.
if you want to see genuine 'love making' watch some true amateur stuff. you have to filter through a lot of rubbish, but it's the same process with pro scenes.

Great post.
I'd like to believ what I am watching is real sex. I also like to think I can spot faking. But maybe a lie detector test after the shoot will prove to me all involved really loved it. Ha ha.
Extreme I know.

You're right. And I try to watch as much amateur stuff as I can - but the problem I find is the camera operators nearly always point the lense in the wrong direction for much of the scene. This happens a lot in 'mainstream' porn too though.

^ I think you're being too cynical.
No doubt some of the girls are detached. No doubt all of them are doing their job.
But people have a lot of reasons for choosing the work they do. The enjoyment may not even be sexual. Some might like being on camera and being the center of attention. Some might enjoy the transgressive aspects of it. Some might enjoy having sexual power without getting sexual gratification, as normally understood. (The mere fact that someone would pay $1000 to watch you have sex must be gratifying for some women.)
For those who have access to an academic library, here are three articles that touch on the topic:
Shades of gay: Performance of girl-on-girl pornography and mobile authenticities
This article was written by a former cam-girl (who did other kinds of performative sex work). She interviews a number of her colleagues, many of whom were lesbians off-camera. The article focuses on the authentic/performative dialectic. For those who care about such things, it embraces dramaturgy, a theoretical perspective in the social sciences that looks at the performative aspects of everyday life.
Women showing off: Notes on female exhibitionism.
This is written by a clinical psychologist and focuses on two case studies. It gets into some Freudian nonsense, based on the fact that both women has fantasies involving pregnancy and childbirth. To the degree that it pathologizes exhibitionism, it would say these women have "mommy issues" rather than the more typical "daddy issues" trope that prevails when discussing women who don't engage in "normal" sexual practices.
Sexual Exhibitionism as Sexuality and Individuality: A Critique of Psycho-Medical Discourse from the Perspectives of Women who Exhibit
This is based on a research psychologists on-line interviews with six female exhibitionists. It questions the view that exhibitionism is deviant, and calls for more research. (Most of the research has focused on male flashers who have gotten in trouble with the law.) The women interviewed for this article rarely have trouble finding willing voyeurs, and find exhibitionism both enjoyable and fulfilling. Feminists are often interested in power relations between men and women, and some of the women actually found exhibitionism a powerful way to confront leering men. Instead of ignoring or opposing leers, these woman found that by showing a little skin, the power in the interaction shifts into the woman's hand.

Given that you agree with me that there is no doubt that it happens, how am I being too cynical in a thread where the OP is asking if it's even possible?

It is, believe it or not I can be detached in real life , when my BF asks I perform , always, and if I'm not in the mood I eat her out or even fuck her getting a wood out of physical stimulation I push her all the way she wants but it'll not be completely satisfactory for me

Just how engaged or detached a woman is with her guy depends a lot on the guy.
If he doesn't do much to please her, and it's all about her pleasing him. Then indeed this pretty lady is bound to be detached from her sex with the guy, because there isn't much pleasure in it for her. The woman might as well lie back and think of England, as Queen Victoria once advised women to do in such a situation.
It's the pleasure that makes anybody engaged in their activity. Which means that you need to show some unmistakable and un-fakeable signs of the woman's pleasure to make her look engaged in her sex with the guy. Moaning and groaning won't do, because these are easy to fake. A good clitoral erection, wet, opened up pussy lips, and some pussy or ass gaping is what you need to make the pretty lady look engaged in her sex with the guy.
When you see that the guy has a big erection, then you don't wonder if he is engaged or not. And it's the same thing for a woman, except women get clitoral erections and gape their sex-holes for horny guys' poles. Visible signs of sexual excitement that cannot be acted out of faked is what makes both men and women look interested and engaged in their sexual activity.
That's why I say that the guy needs to rub his lady's clit with a well-lubricated hand, even while he is riding her ass with his cock. He needs to do it well enough to excite her pussy and clit in a visible kind of way. Or else his efforts to please the lady look ineffective to the viewer, and the lady can look like she is detached and disengaged despite his efforts.
It's not enough for the guy just to go through the motions of pleasing his lady. He needs to do it well enough to make her look sexually excited in a visible and an un-fakeable kind of way. It's the same as with the lady sucking a guy's cock. She needs to do it well enough to give him a good erection. Or else her efforts look ineffective, and the guy looks disengaged despite her efforts.

Just to illustrate what I mean in my post above, here is an example of a pretty lady looking fully engaged in her anal sex with her guy. Her pussy looks so aroused and so excited that it's gaping wide open on its own, without any assistance from anyone.
There is no way you can fake something like this. This lady's pussy clearly shows you that she is very interested and engaged in her sex with her guy.
It's too bad such pussy excitement is so rare in porn. This is how women's pussies should look like every time in every porn film, because this is what you need to make the pretty lady look fully engaged in her sex with her guy. This is the female equivalent of having a full erection. Which is taken for granted among guys, but among women such full pussy erection is extremely rare, perhaps due to ignorance among guys about how to do it well for the lady.
I can say from my own experience that the way to make 'big pussy' for the lady, as my lady likes to call it, you need to coat your lady's external genitalia and your hand with so much water-based lube that some of it dries, and you end up putting layer upon layer of lube. And then you need to dip your hand in some water to make it extra slippery, so slippery that you can massage your lady's pussy-lips and clit with lightning speed, without hurting her or causing any discomfort for her. Lightning-fast massage of the lady's pussy-lips and clit is what you need to make her pussy fully erect as shown in the example above.
The faster you massage your lady's external genitalia, the better it is to make your lady lose control and have a full pussy erection with you. But of course, you need to make sure that the lube doesn't dry out and remains extremely slippery by dipping your hand in some water periodically. Or else the lady will start feeling some discomfort, and her pussy erection will go away.

One of the things discussed (albeit in passing) in the Girl-on-Girl article is the performative aspect of intimate sex. (Which is a part of what you're describing, though even if you were really turned on, you would still be performing for your partner in other ways.)

Actually, I'm always "detached."
They're on the screen, and I'm playing with my own dick by mtself.

^^ YW. I just happened to read them a few hours before I read the OP, so it was easy for me to find the links, and I basically remembered what I had read.
From your other posts, I have the sense that you research pornographic films, and I would imagine you are familiar with the literature on human sexuality. But I had never looked at it. I didn't look at impact factors or anything, but based on my in depth study of a dozen abstracts and two articles, if I were studying something related to sex, I would follow "Sexualities".
