It will also show you whether you can actually reach the IAFD server, as this command tells your computer to list every router your traffic goes through to reach the server. BTW, my computer did a reverse DNS lookup when I performed a trace route to the IAFD server's IP address and came up with the host name "lennon.jephens.com". If you put "http:\\lennon.jephens.com" into your web browser it will bring up the IAFD home page. If your provider is blocking the 'www.iafd.com' host name this may be a way to get around that, however, most blocking is done using the IP address, not the host name. Good luck. [Link] |

| Hardware All-Star Member Your other left 14594 Posts 3/02 | Posted - Aug 9 2009 : 11:50PM @neech: My guess is that your computer is sending larger packets than Jeff's server wants to accept, and, for whatever reason, your network software is refusing to negotiate the packet size. That is consistent with you being able to access the server via a proxy server - the proxy is able to handle the larger packets from your PC; it simply breaks them up into smaller ones before sending the lot on to Jeff's server. First, make sure you have the latest drivers for your network adapter. If you do, then, since I assume you haven't been mucking about with your network stack, try a different brand of network card - see if it's a driver problem. That beats the heck out of diagnosing Windows internals. The fun only get, well, not better from here on out. [Link] |
