Director Of The Year - Jonni Darkko Jonni's beautifully glamorous style of vibrant direction in combination with all his extreme and imaginatively nasty fetishes and kinks have always been totally in harmony with my own, which is why he has always been my favourite director. The fact that he has struck up a special professional director-performer relationship with Holly Hendrix, of all girls, who just happens to cite Jonni as her own favourite director for exactly the same reasons, gave her a platform to truly shine in Fitness Sluts and then directed my favourite movie of Holly's all year with her showcase, makes this choice even more obvious. That said, I must give a huge honorable mention to Maestro Claudio on behalf of BAM Visions and Perv City. His style of direction and camerawork is of such an exquisitely graphic quality that only Jonni can equal and, for me, between the two of them they have captured the true essence of Holly at her most graphic, nasty, and naturally beautiful that no other director on the world stage has got close to. Not to take anything away from the other directors, but honestly for me, for the past several years, it's been Mason at the top, and then a long jump down to second place. Though I will say I enjoyed some really good LeWood movies this year. Welcome Back: There were some comebacks that were more surprising to me, but in terms of the quality and quantity of the scenes once she did come back, I have to give this one to Kristina Rose. The best performer in the last 10 years who doesn't have an AVN FPOTY trophy on her mantelpiece. Keri Sable Award: Leah Gotti. She could have been on the level of someone like Keisha Grey by the end of this year, and on the level of Adriana Chechik in another year or two. Huge potential. And that body! Breakout Award: Ashley Adams. She really did break out this year, becoming an anal star to add to her already-bright star as a big boob performer, she gave everyone a reason to watch. MILF of the Year: I want to give this to India Summer every year, she's everything a MILF performer should be, and she does it without a boob job. That's impressive. But I think I will actually go with Cherie Deville. (I may have voted for her last year too, now that I think of it. OK wait I just checked. Yup, I voted for Cherie last year too.) Best Newcomer: Lana Rhoades. If she doesn't clean up at awards season, it will be because a) she started too late into 2016, and b) she took a break from porn for a few months - and a break from Spiegler. Top Female Performer: I know Captain Jack gave this to Adriana Chechik last year, so he might not want to give it to her again. In that case I suggest he go with Keisha Grey. But it might be Adriana's turn to win it at AVNs. I think both of them should have tried to get some features under their belt though if they wanted to make a serious case for being picked at AVN. Jonni and Manuel are shooting for a couple different studios but all of their content is top notch. Francesca and Mark are not only great performers but they bring out the best in the performers that they direct! Toni has a kinky side to him and shoots some outstanding content! Mimefreak listens to the fans more than anyone and shoots hot sex scenes! Jacky has moved on to Sweet Sinner and does a great job shooting features and thought provoking adult content. That leaves 3 directors that I haven't mentioned. Mick and Claudio are outstanding directors and make a great team. For those that buy disks, every release of theirs is a double disk set with loads of BTS. For those that view it on the web, most scenes are an hour long. Personally, I thought Anal Tootsies was one of the best releases of the year, among others. Mason is the queen. No one is going to take her title. She is influential on other directors and, if the fans want their favorite girl to shoot a special scene, Mason is invariably the director they contact first. But my winner is Greg Lansky He shoots outstanding content for 3 different sites (Blacked, Tushy and Vixen) and gets more exclusives than any other director. The camerawork is good, the lighting is great and the filmmaking is exquisite. He is my choice for the 2017 Captain Jack Off Award for Best Director! All of the release involved had some hot sex with some outstanding performers. I think Marley Brinx's scene in Anal Tootsies might have been the scene of the year! However, there is one release that stood out from all others and was unique in it's own right. Jacky St. James is a fabulous director and her wrapup to the Emma Marx trilogy was outstanding. Ask any director in Hollywood, sequels are tough and making a good third film is even tougher. To keep up a good storyline and stay true to the characters is not an easy thing. Then, in the adult world, you still have to have good sex to tie things together. This movie had all three in spades and Jacky did a wonderful job. Abella is one of the favorites for Performer of the Year this year along with AJ Applegate. Angela produced some outstanding content and now that she lives over here, she is just going to be releasing more and more volcanic releases! Anikka and Kelsi have some big asses and matched up well with each other. Dakota Skye has had some personal issues but when she comes to play, she is outstanding. Holly is a real up and comer and deserved her showcase. It was tremendous and I can't wait to see what else she releases in the future! But my choice for release of the year was an easy one. Mick Blue and Anikka Albrite are the first couple of porn. They released a showcase movie this year that celebrated their journey together as they told me earlier this year. Mick Loves Anikka led the couple around the world. They filmed part of it in Hawaii which was just an incredible background. This 2 disk set had it all but, mostly, the love between two of the all-time best performers came shining through. As a porn fan, this release was just hot.
