Of course the director can always make specific requests or give us a talk before hand about what he expects but for the most part we have free reign to do out thing. [Link]

Once in a while they will provide wardrobe, but generally, that's only if the outfit is so specific and they know no one would have it on hand such as a superhero costume. [Link]
