I am working on a web based java chat page similar to the one at DVD Talk but for the moment you will need an IRC compatible client like mIRC. You can download mIRC at [url=468608]http://www.mirc.com [This message has been edited by Drew Black (edited November 13, 1999).] [Link] |

But then I dropped by rampage and checked into #adt, and found that that channel has obviously been registered. Oddly, I dropped by #adultdvdtalk and it seemed to direct me to the same place! So what's the deal? Are #adt on chat.adultdvdtalk.com, #adt on irc.ram-page.com, and #adultdvdtalk on irc.ram-page.com all the same server? Hmm... - David Stein |

To get around it (and not have to pay through the nose for hosting services) we have set up our own web, forum and chat servers. This may seem like the expensive route to go but in the long run it's the best thing. I also like the control of having our own equipment. If someone becomes a problem it's real easy to trace them down and take action if necessary. |

(chanserv is not so much of an issue since you own the IRC server anyway). It will be quite confusing for the people to switch between two IRC servers if they want to participate in both #dvdtalk and #adt. We should definitely have a java client applet and/or clear instructions on how to define two servers on their client (say, mIRC). -kinky |

Make sure you put in a descrition also (it doesn't matter what you call it). Now click ok and then connect to the server and join room #adt. Hopefully that should work. If you have any other probems or have no clue what I said let me know. ------------------ -[url=52782]Richard</A |
| Drew Black broken crankshaft 8009 Posts 9/99 | Kinky - the IRC server that we are using is the MS Exchange Chat server. People can connect using Microsoft Chat is they desire. I'm sure there are pros and cons for MS vs. mIRC. I will look into the nickserve capabilities of the software. I read through the limited info available at Ram-Page. My real fear is that they might have a problem with the content of some of the #adt chats and that it would indirectly have an impact on Geoff's ability to use their services. Although ADT and DVD Talk are operated distinctly different groups, misperceptions can often be a huge problem. I want to avoid these types of problems at all costs.
