Chat with one of porn's most controversial directors the day after his first release with Elegant Angel, Flesh Circus, hits the street. The chat will be in our chat room as well as the chat room on RogReviews.com at 7pm PT on Wednesday May 28th (time zone converter.) Rog says he's in the middle of a review of Flesh Circus and will have it posted in a day or two.
Zupko is looking forward to chatting with fans and even those who call him the XXX anti-christ. He promises to "answer all questions and be nice!"
I have to try and remember that Chats are on Wednesday and that they start at 7 pm, I'm still used to the east coast where they started at 10 pm and I was falling asleep. Hopefully I'll make this one.
Well now I have a really good reason to make this chat other than the fact I love our Wed. chats there is the added caveat that DB might make this one!! It's always fun to read her posts but I can only recall one time seeing her in chat so hopefull she will make this one. It will also be interesting to listen to Thomas Zupko. I must confess to not seeing his work but have certainly read a lot here and on Rog's site about him. So it will be interesting to see what he says and what questions the fine folks here at ADT as well as other industry people ask when the chat happens. So thanks to Steph and Drew as well as Thomas Zupko for making this chat happen!!
anyone can give me short explanation why he is "one of porn's most controversial directors"? I must admit that (as far as i can remember) I havent seen any of his movies...
Words cannot describe movies from Thomas Zupko, you have to see his movies to understand.
This is my favorite Zupko quote for the March 2003 issue of HEVG because I couldn't agree more:
"Porn is about greedy whores devouring cock, shoving it up their asses, then pulling it out and sucking their own fecal matter off it like it was sacramental wine direct from Pope John Paul's diamond-encursted chalice. It ain't about condoms, the missionary position and romance"
Hustler Erotic Video Guide. All of them eventhough Anal Ball will remain my favorite Zupko movie. The Montana Gunn-Brian Surewood scene will blow you away. I think that scene was the reason why Stagliano signed Zupko at that time, of course he then made the big mistake of firing Zupko because he didn't like Pussy Crimes which I don't understand because I thought that movie was pretty good, not as good as Anal Ball but still better than most movies out there.. Zupko was simply perfect for Evil Angel because he brought something new and fresh to that company but the Lord works in mysterious ways.
Rog's Flesh Circus review is up now. Sounds pretty good. Any idea what extras will be on the DVD?
Zupko recommendations? In the Days of Whore is one of my favorites. I love that Taylor St. Clair scene! Last I knew it was only available on VHS...probably the best format considering Extreme's poor track record on DVDs.
Yeah. You had to buy the "Director's Cut" video tapes directly from Extreme. Unlike the regular tapes and discs, these uncensored versions usually cost $45-$50. From what I understand, most of the "forbidden" content consisted of pissing/golden showers.

I totally agree with you the scene where Brian Surewood stick ice cubes inside montana's ass is one of the hottest scene id ever seen. I wanna see more stuff like this. Is amazing!!!!!
Unfortunately, it looks like I am going to miss the chat as I start a new job tomorrow and chances are I'll be working over the hours of the chat on Wednesday. I hope that a transcript of it gets put up so I can read it after the fact.
Here's another Flesh Circus review from insidethelair.com. Some images are included. Looks good, but this review says there are no DVD extras or menus. That can't be right...can it?

Ramsey - I totally respect you and the fact that there are people out there who enjoy Zupko's movies.
But IMHO, John getting rid of Thomas Zupko wasn't a bad move. Anal Ball was OK. The music was decent, the editing was decent, the sex was interesting, especially the scene with Montana Gunn. Pussy Crimes didn't really didn't have those things.
And then it kind of turned out that Zupko didn't really have the same way of having the girls enjoy what they're doing that pretty much all the other Evil Angel directors have.
So all in all, the situation could have been different, but John has remained happy with his decision.
That's the whole problem, everybody compared Pussy Crimes to Anal Ball and that was not fair because Anal Ball was a masterpiece. Of course Pussy Crimes was not as good as Anal Ball but still pretty good IMO.
This makes sense because he makes different kind of movies where performers have to give more than for other directors. He pushes his performers to and above the limit and the results are great, Days of Whore is proof of that. Of course if the girls don't enjoy working for Zupko than they shouldn't work for him. You know if you're gonna work Zupko than you should give 110% and if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
I understand that but I still think he could have made some great movies for Evil Angel like he did for Extreme.
Anwyay, I hope Elegant Angel will give him the freedom to make the movies he wants, not the movies Pat Collins wants him to make!

I wasn't talking so much about specific sex acts (although on that subject I'd like to think that our directors don't blatantly try for shock value circus acts). We had a barbeque at our house right after we took on Zupko and Anal Ball. The girls that didn't know Joey or John or Tom took fabulously to Joey and John, but seemed distinctly uncomfortable being around Tom. I think girls should give always give 100% (there's no such thing as 100% when you're talking about a non-infinite thing . But they still have to enjoy the specifics, and that includes WHO they're working for.
I think it's completely fair, because they understood that they were taken into the company based on those exact types of production values and scenes, and they delivered something much less as a second effort. Beyond that, and this is my personal opinion, not John's, I never liked Anal Ball in the first place (I saw that it was interesting on a uniqueness level, but it didn't arouse me at all, and to me, that's what's most important about the porn I like to see).
OK, look's like we've done one heck of a job derailing this topic. !!!!
You're right Tricia and it's time to fuhgetabout the whole thing and wish Zupko good luck at Elegant Angel eventhough I doubt that will happen with a boss like PC.....
Ramsey, I'm curious, and this isn't flame bait. In the interview, John said that hiring Zupko was a mistake.
Where would you fall on this issue.
If Stagliano is God and God is infallable, then how could he make a mistake? Worse yet, how could the mistake the admits to be in direct contradiction to the one you say he made?
It is true that I consider Stagliano God but that doesn't mean I understand everything he does. I mean I still don't understand how he could sign a sub-par director/performer like Randy West or why he didn't sign Max Hardcore when he had no company considering he likes Max's work but those are those mysterious ways I was talking about.
