For a woman, it just makes her look even more decorated and less attractive. It is right up there with the lousy look of fake breasts.

Piercings are even worse.

Unlike fads of previous decades, tattoos are not something that you can just get rid of easily (like a leisure suit or a weird hair style).

I think that if some inventor is looking for something to build that sell well in the future, that invention should be something that removes tattoos quickly and painlessly. In 10 years, there are going to be a lot of people saying to themselves "What the hell have I done to my self?".

Peoples attitudes like this are based out of ignorance; I would of thought that a website that deals with pornography would have more open-minded people on it. I guess I was wrong.

You might want to realize that not everyone gets tattoos for other people. And its not a fad for some, its been around for thousands of years; I have traditional Japanese work from my left shoulder to wrist that is beautiful, very expensive, and far from trashy. It is based on history, art, and technique. But thats not whats important to you; nor is that my issue with the negativity displayed here. What I care about is the assumption that tattoos somehow equate with some ridiculous generalization (trash,fads,etc) that is based out of your INEXPERIENCE with tattooed people.

Do you have any reality-based knowledge of tattooing or those tattooed? Even if you do, attempting to lump all people into one category is unfair and quite simplistic, especially if you are basing it on 1 or 2 people you might of met,a episode of OZ, MTV, or your local stripper.

I can assure you, most people I know who are heavily tattooed (men and women) do not want to be tough or cool. We are too busy living our lives, going to work, and doing what most people do. Nor do we feel superior; its a personal choice, one which cannot be understood by people who are close-minded and frankly seem to be afraid of those who express their individuality in permanent ways.

The only thing 'foolish' in life is not taking chances with it; its better to live with no regrets than to not be yourself and if tattooing is a way for someone to express themselves, then its quite empowering. A lot of people, (whether it be jail, strippers, etc) or on a daily basis get treated like just a number or are objectified and degraded. Sometimes tattooing is the only way for them to maintain any sense of who they are. Its a constant reminder; I have lived my entire adult life tattooed and my only negative moments were from the reactions of other people (college was particularly nasty for me.)

As for the pain, its quite nice really. After a good session (at least 2-3 hours into it,) you start entering a terrific zen. Women in particular who are heavily tattooed sit much better than men. I am finishing my arm tommorrow and will be sitting for at least 4-5 hours. Afterwards, I plan on finally watching my copy of 'Fasionistas'.....
