I know how the law works for the influential, in the US and my nation too. They normally get a slap on the wrist and that's that. But this was a slam dunk. But this guy, and his connections, must have significant pull because it seems like he went straight past all of his accusations like they were roadkill and he was a driver far too angelic to deal with their words. I hope I don't get banned for this, but if I do, I don't regret it, because I'm only speaking out of disgust for what has been 100% documented about this man and his behaviour. If someone is charged with a crime, convicted and serves a sentence, or if they are charged and the charges are dropped even, that's the end of it for the public justice system (assuming any parole period is over too). Whatever the private sector does isn't necessarily restrained. There are some exceptions here in Canada where businesses that deal with vulnerable people (children, elderly, disabled) where background checks are required and people convicted of certain crimes can't be employed. I'm sure many other countries have similar requirements. Those rules make sense. You don't want a convicted pedophile working at a childcare business. But otherwise, businesses aren't necessarily constrained. If I own a convenience store and want to hire someone who has an assault conviction, I can do that. Hell, if someone has a conviction for stealing from their employer and I still want to employ them, that's up to me. I think that's what we're seeing here. The problem, I think, are agents and the porn industry itself. Good agents (and it sounds like there are a few of them) should refuse to send their principals (the models) to any shoot involving someone who has a track record of abuse - whether charged and/or convicted or not. The same with studios. It is unconscionable that big studios continue to feature male talent who have credible accusations of abuse. Surely, and I mean this in all sincerity, male talent is easy to replace. I'm sure that for every male in the business, there are 10 who want to be. An advantage to agents and studios cracking down on these guys is that the message would get around among those still in the business and those wanting to get in - fuck around and you're gone. If there are credible accusations against you, charges or not, you'll be gone in a heartbeat. You'll be working at McDonalds next week.
