I had a conversation with Rayveness several months ago, and was surprised by her strong Christian beliefs.
On another note, has anyone read 'The End of Faith' by Sam Harris? His thesis is that organized religion (all of them, pretty much) are to blame all the shit in the world, and argues that humankind needs to be rid of them if we want to survive. It's a bit of a dense read, but worth the effort.
On a side note, and a good balance to the other book recommendation, I'd like to suggest Lathe Of Heaven, which is a scolding condemnation of anyone who thinks any one sweeping change, such as eliminating organized religion, is going to fix the human race.
In fact, the more we try to fix the human race, the more we just fuck it up, even worse.

The Lathe of Heaven. Is that the one where the guy goes to sleep and whatever he dreams is how the world is when he wakes up? If that is what I'm thinking of I started reading that book years ago but somhow lost it and never finished. I think there were a couple of movies based on it.

To the original thread question, I know that Jenna Jameson claims to still have at least some Catholic beliefs. Of course, she might be a tough person to book for another interview when she's not promoting something. And I know Gauge told Lee Carver once that she still believed in God, and by the context I took it she meant the Christian Trinity.

There have been several people with law degrees but who had never been judges before they became Supreme Court Justices. Notably Earl Warren, who presided over the Supreme Court during the civil rights era of the 50s and 60s, and also the investigation into the assassination of President Kennedy. He had a law degree but his jobs before the Supreme Court were county district attorney, state attorney general, and a state governor, never a judge. I'm not defending Miers, I don't really know what to think of her.

Porn performers are people too and the fact that some people have faith should not be surprising. I'm tired of Internet people always coming out of the woodwork to bash and joke about Christians (and beleivers in general).
I'm not religous or anything, but isn't porn supposed to be wrong for Christians? If your a Christian doing porn, here's a hint....Don't Freakin do it anymore!
If your going to be Christian, at least do your best to be a good one. Nobody's perfect, but everything isn't always going to be easy. Damn, I'm offended and I've never even been to church once in my entire life. People don't respect anything anymore!

Christianity has become so divided that people can put any convenient interpretation they want on it.
Yes, porn is wrong for Christians to either produce or consume. But on the consumption side many just have human desires and curiosity stronger than their will power. And for both fans and performers who were raised in a Christian home some get hurt and disilusioned by other Christians as they age into adults and become more questioning and less devout. But even though they become less devout, they never actually renounce their belief in God. Some try to practice their faith even while being into porn, I'm not sure how they do it. But I think it's more common for people to cease to be very observant, and to get embarrassed by Christian moral police who try to force their beliefs on others by taking over governments and having government outlaw or regulate to death practices that those other Christians find objectionable, rather than persuading others gently with reason and love. But while these backslid Christians into porn may be embarrassed by the Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and James Dobson follower Christians, when they hear atheistic diatribes such as the kind that alongwaysouth expressed, that awakens a defensiveness inside of them and their conscience feels it. Maybe it's not enough for them to quit porn, but they will hold onto the little faith they still have, and maybe say so. And some porn performers quit when they get born again or find religion, depending on what you want to call it, for the first time. Or their latent beliefs from childhood are revived. I think I read on this board a few months ago that Skye Lopez had quit porn because she had found God. The posters on that thread were giving a lot of abuse to Christians and Skye.
Also, I just wanted to add that ex star Sky Lopez is outspoken about her Christian faith. I gathered that she didn't leave the porn industry because of this but it is rather the main factor in keeping her from returning.

I only heard about Sky (Skye?) being Christian on the ADT a few months ago. I didn't know when she retired. She didn't make that many movies when she was active, not like some other free agents do. Of course she had that cross tattoo even when she was a performer, but I really don't think cross necklaces or tattoos necessarily mean anything about the lifestyles or beliefs of the wearers. I never watched Mad TV but I can remember I did see a sketch on it about how it is kind of silly when rappers with gangsta/pimp personas and explicit lyrics thank God in acceptance speeches at award shows.

I just recalled her saying that in an interview with Luke Ford. Having dug it up, I see that rather than being a "Christian freak", she believes in "nature gods and Buddha and stuff like that."
I just don't understand why people want to be Christians if they're not willing to give 100% to it. Don't some things require committment in life. We are talking about the permanent resting place of your soul, if your a believer. That's not more important than the brief satisfaction and money from doing porn?
That's my only beef with people and religon, they want the "feeling" of being a spiritual person, but they take a half-ass approach to it because it's hard. I don't like religon, but I respect the discipline that some people put into it.
Faith is and should be a personal thing, but people shouldn't kid themselves about how they live their lives. Religon shouldn't be some kind of hat you put on when it's convenient. It should mean something...shouldn't it?
I don't see how on earth you can be a christian and do porn or even watch it regularly. Sure, you can't one day just decide to be a christian and be sin free. You go to church and set goals and pray and read the bible. Only then can you try to get rid of your sins and be a better person. I don't like being a christian because I don't like living with guilt. With christianity you seem to have to live with a lot of guilt. You do something bad and you just might go to hell if you don't beg for forgiveness. I don't want to ever go without porn. Then you're not supposed to look at the opposite sex with lust. Yep, sometimes they can make up their own beliefs. They knew they're not true and even read so in the bible. Some people just believe what they want to believe. That's ok. Then theres the stuff about gay people in the bible. It's encouraging people to thing gay people have some sort of disease that can be "cured" by god. To me, all the ministers are doing is fueling hate. It doesn't help anyone.
I don't hate christians or anything like that. It's perfectly cool with me if you're one. I just don't like all their beliefs, that's all. If I follow any "religion" the most it would be buddism. I don't go to a monastery and do chants and all that weird stuff. I don't even really consider it a religion and I don't even believe in reincarnation. I just find it so interesting to read up on and don't think you need to "worship some fat dude". You can just call yourself a buddhist without needing to follow some set of rules.

I look at porn on my computer everyday. I guess you could call me something of an addict. But maybe...twice a week...something tells me I should slow down a bit. Think before I download the latest Eva Angelina or Tory Lane zip picture set or whatever, and I do. I maybe look at a little porn, then turn off the computer and lay off a little while, and ask God for forgiveness. Sometimes I speak from the heart, sometimes I don't. But he knows when I'm honest and when I'm trying to take it easy on the porn. And from what I can tell, he understands that it's gonna take TIME for me to eventually quit looking at it altogether someday. One day at a time. Shit dude, if you don't believe me, I prayed once before I went on my own personal porn-fast while I was on vacation last December, giving myself 3 days to not look at porn. I went 8. An extra day too after my vacation was over. Nowhere in the Bible does it say you gotta live with guilt, dude. And if a Minister does, well, get the fuck away from that sermon!
