We've all seen reports of former porn stars/strippers, etc. who get "outed" about their past life when they start a new career. I had to downplay writing for adult magazines on my resume to get any other jobs in the publishing field. I think it's an honest way to make a buck, but plenty of people in the non porn still frown upon it. [Link] |

If you want to argue the converse based on a few girls getting some mainstream gigs, you're welcome to do it. But like any controversial career, it can have repercussions. Hell Howard Stern may have 500 million bucks right now, but twenty five years ago he didn't know if he'd have a job after each show. However he was born to do that job and it fulfilled him even through that turmoil. I know Nina Hartley is a nurse, but she also has the right mindset for porn. Her personal relationships, her views on sex, her ways of connecting to fans, she's in the right business. I don't think being a fulltime nurse would've come close to making her as happy as she is in her current career. That's what I meant. She's happy as a pornstar. I don't think everyone will be happy as a pornstar and carrying that title for twenty, thirty years of their life. Given the rapid turnaround we see in the business, that's not really too big a conclusion to come to, is it? I enjoyed getting paid to write porn, watch x vids and meet models when I was an adult magazine writer, but writing for magazines where I can expand my horizons is simply a better opportunity for me. If a long stint in porn is what Claire wants to do, groovy. I think she's got an even better future ahead of her. Is it so bad to want something even more amazing for a bright sweet girl? [Link] |
