Video-X-Pix is releasing the classic holiday film The Passions of Carol on DVD this month, which is a take off of A Christmas Carol. I have yet to see a VXP disc so I don't know how good their releases are but a few threads here on other releases don't leave me too enthusiastic about how it might look. At least this classic is seeing the light of day on DVD.

Flash, I'd describe their quality control, in a generous moment, as erratic. A couple of the Chuck Vincent movies - Jack & Jill and Roommates - are pretty good. A Scent of Heather also looks good. On the other hand, Bel Ami and Felicia are awful (particularly the latter). I suspect it's simply a question of the quality of the materials they happen to have to hand. I can't imagine any remastering or enhancement is involved so it really is a lottery.

It looks like this holiday classic is getting a new release under Video-X-Pix's Elite banner with a cleaned up remastered print.

I had read about this remastered print of The Passions Of Carol.This great news I always love watching this film on Christmas Eve.

VXP seems to be trying to move upscale with their releases, a smart move. Not my favorite Costello but worth a watch.

I love it and I can't wait to see this remastered version. The pics I've seen are gorgeous, and the VXP copy I have doesn't nearly do it justice.

Steven Morowitz is aware of the issues with his current releases. All of the best VXP titles will be re-issued in remastered DVDs which will be made using new HD transfers from 35mm negatives or prints.
VXPs re-releases of MARASCHINO CHERRY, BLONDE AMBITION and DEEP INSIDE ANNIE SPRINKLE are easily the best domestic releases of American XXX films in existence, on par with (and in some cases better) than the DVDs released a few years ago by Media Blasters.
So yes, just to clarify for all who have seen the sub-par DVDs that have come from VXP, that is a thing of the past! Steven is actively archiving his materials and fans of these films can expect nothing but top quality DVDs (and even some Blu-Rays) from now on.
