Hi, recently visited LA, San Francisco, Las Vegas Very surprised at the lack of adult sex shops - maybe I was not in the right areas? did find one in Las Vegas, about 6 in San Francsisco, a couple off hollywood boulevard in LA - they were alos very expensive
i know there are a lot of adult shops in NY i suppose you guys just order mail order?
I like mail order/online shopping, not only are the prices less expensive, but privacy is key.
I've never been into an adult shop, although there are about 5 all within a 10 radius of me.
The reason why? There were never any signs that said what age you had to be to enter. In the sports section of the newspapers, there were ads for adult stores, some said 18+ to enter, others said 21+ to enter. I didn't want to walk up to a door and see that it said 21+, back when I was 18.
Now that I'm 22, I'd rather buy online. Although I did buy about 8 XXX DVDs, not cable versions, at a music store, before I found the joys of online shopping.
Next time your in the States, just grab a local smut rag for directions. In Vegas they hand them out in the street. New York was really cleaned up in the past 10 years but in Manhatten a lot of adult stores have great products and also at decent prices. My town, (Phoenix/tempe,) has more adult stores than it knows what to do with them (and they close up just as quick.) San Francisco has some great ones, I remember a place near the castro (the street) that specialized in Leather/bondage plus theres a lesbian friendly place called 'Good Vibrations' in the mission district.
My tip for LA? Get out alive! Oh yeah, and go down to Tijuana (about a 5 hour drive to Mexico) for the donkey show on Revolucion at Bambi's.
But the prices are sky high! I internet everything!
Yeah, so very true, I bought Backseat Driver at that music store, along with BJ Fantasies, for about $60. I later bought both the follow-ups to those DVDs on-line for about $30 for both.
But... Shocked the hell out of the girl behind the counter, but with all those piercings in her head, I thought that she was listening to a radio station in outer space, so not too big a deal... Priceless...

The cost of purchasing from a local store is too high. I use the local stores only to rent titles when I want to check out a new series or a new company that I am not familiar with.
I work just a few minutes away from the area's largest strip club/adult emporium, and while prices are cheaper online, it's hard to deny the thrill of being there right after the UPS man comes, and being the first to take the new releases out of the box.
It's tough to say no when you've got a shiny new disc in your hand; it's also tough to pass on the new VHS releases even when you know the DVD will be along in 2-3 months.
Lately, I've been too busy at work to stop by, which I suppose is a good thing.
I know what everone means about US sex shops... What is the mark-up like 5000%!!! Even in the real touristy area of Amsterdams's red light district, the prices seem much better.
