Many of the performers could work virtually every day (or even twice a day) if they really wanted to. Look at Bridgette Kerkove. She did somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 scenes in her first year alone. No matter what her rates were, that will generate a lot of money (and a lot of soreness, I would think). The contract girls, on the other hand, get paid a salary, with X number of movies per year, plus promotional performances. I think that you are correct about a lot of income also being generated from dancing. There's quite a few performers who go to CA for a month or two out of the year, make a lot of movies in that time and spend the rest of the year traveling from city to city dancing.
