I wasn't sure where to post this, please move it if necessary. I have seen plenty of discussions of "which movies should I choose to introduce my girlfriend to porn?"
The idea is that the movies will spice up a couple's sex life. The advice always seem to be, "I'd go with such and such couples feature, which won't offend her." But is that always the right answer? I was pondering the question today, why would women find a Rocco video, for example, to be offensive?
I have heard the various arguments get made, but then I remembered Jenny and Sylvia Sun (Synthia) getting it on with Leslie Taylor and Hakan in Rocco's Initiations 3. The ladies have intense, sweaty, passionate sex with the guys, with lots of groping and kissing. As things progress, they each get a big cock up their ass, and they ENJOY it. You can see the lust, the pleasure gleaming in their eyes.
Is this purely something that males would enjoy seeing? Why would women not enjoy watching other women having a lot of energetic fun? I do realize that some people, male and female, have been conditioned by society-religion-family-whatever to find sexuality offensive, but I would think that if someone could enjoy watching a boy-girl tryst in Vivid movie, they would enjoy watching scenes with more energy and passion. But all I ever see when the question comes up is, "Keep her away from anything at all risque."
Why? I want to read what others think about this.

Speelie, this is an excellent question, and I'll give my own opinion on this, for what it's worth.
Most of the questions posed that you refer to have been concerning a female agreeing to watch a porno for the very first time, so unless the male wants it to be the LAST time as well, I think it shows sensitivity on his part to make sure it's tasteful. Remember, we're just talking about the FIRST one, so while those Vivid movies may seem tame to you, it's better to start off with something like that, than risk this window of opportunity closing by showing her 'Animal Trainer' too soon, you know?

quote "I have heard the various arguments get made, but then I remembered Jenny and Sylvia Sun (Synthia) getting it on with Leslie Taylor and Hakan in Rocco's Initiations 3. That's great, but those are porn actresses. I can assure you that most females who don't normally watch porn would not find the sight of those those two getting "a big cock up their ass" erotic, no matter how much you may find it to be, because most women aren't interested in getting ass-fucked, despite what you see in the movies. That these pornstars seem to "really enjoy" it, as you say, would only add to the female's discomfort, if not outright revulsion.
Perhaps later on, you never know, she could turn into a real fuck monster, but you have to take it slow. Porn is made for men, not for women, and most of us ARE different. Men are much more visually oriented.
I don't think it's safe to assume that just because women don't want to see anal sex and find nothing erotic about a guy jerking off into their face that they are repressed sexually ~ it's just that that's men's idea of 'hot sex', not women's. One of the hottest scenes I've seen recently came from mainstream, and involved only the couple's faces in silhouette (Billy Crudup and I forget the chick's name).
Hope this helps

Speelie:

Interesting topic. I think Rocco is one of the best looking guys in porn. I have not seen him in many movies. My viewing experiences are limited to parts of Chameleons Not The Sequel and the beginning of Rocco's Way to Love. I enjoyed watching him in Chameleons. But Rocco's Way to Love immediately turned me off. The movie begins with him sitting on a toilet, pretending to take a dump, and getting a blowjob. Then he tells the masked chic to lick his ass clean. He also forces his dick so far down her throats that viscous saliva oozes out. This kind of scene could really turn a girl off to watching porn completely if it were her first experience with porn.

I'd have to see more Rocco movies to have a worthwhile perspective. Those are just my initial thoughts.

Thanks DB and Steph, I don't disagree at all with what you write, but I do get sick of constantly reading elsewhere, "You'll turn her off" without any explanation. As I said, I have heard these arguments before, and I think they need to be stated when the "first porn" question comes up, rather than simple blanket condemnations of anything "hardcore." This will give people a better idea of how to approach the situation, and how to progress.
As to Rocco being on the can, that was a bit gross, but no one who sees it can believe for a moment he was actually defecating. Rather, it was fantasy to accompany the role playing Amanda Angel was doing, in which she pretended to be the sex slave of her friend Catherine Count (see them together also in Rocco Animal Trainer 4). As to the gagging deep throat, that is her signature move, she does it whenever she works with Rocco and/or Nacho in various movies (interestingly enough, it seems Antonio Adamo, who kills all passion in his scenes at gunpoint, from what I can tell, won't let her do it when she works for him as Lynn Stone in Private's Virtualia 1. She deep throats a guy for one split second, but otherwise has to content herself with normal fellatio).

here's an odd idea, show her one of your favorites.
tell her why you like it so much. you may not have identical interests but the fact that she knows you like a certain movie should at least be enough to generate her interest to want to see it.

just curious,
how long has she been your girlfriend ?
how often do you (Speelie) watch adult movies ?

I would recommend to guys to watch her body language and facial expressions as much as what she says when you guys have sex.
Does she REALLY seem into the stuff you currently do?
Maybe start out with the softer porn, and slowly work your way up. Rocco's movies would have been too much for even me to start out with, but after a while of watching other stuff, I decided to check out other stuff.

Ask her about her tastes in what she like to see in girls, guys, sex acts, plot level, etc. I mean, if a girl is into watching porn, she'll probably be willing to a small discussion in order to watch something more her taste. If not, maybe she doesn't want to see the movie at all.

To october27, I was asking a purely hypothetical question, I have never tried to actually get a woman to watch Rocco. But I have decided to not hold back, or be overly careful, the next time a chance arises. I tend to date open minded, adventurous women, not repressed overly religious types (I got my fill of those a decade ago!). We'll see how it goes, though I don't have any prospects at the moment :-(
I do think october27 and Tricia did ask the sort of questions that need to be asked more, which was my purpose in starting this thread. Thanks to everyone for sharing their views!

Speelie ~ Though I usually try to convey this when responding to such an inquiry, I thought that it was pretty well understood, as the questions inevitably have to do with the first porno, and common sense should go without saying. I don't remember anyone here condemning hardcore in the way you describe, but since you posted your question here, I assume you're referring to ADT.
Usually when someone seeks advice on what videos would be good for the first time, the guy seems well aware of what she would or would not find objectionable, and we offer suggestions based on this criteria only. I couldn't care less what someone else chooses to watch. There's no 'arguments' or agenda involved, so maybe you're taking it the wrong way, unless I'm missing something? If I did come across that way, I assure you it wasn't intentional, and will
try to be more circumspect in the future.
Thanks,
DB

from BlakeJob -

My girl friend has finally agreed to watch a porn with me (after over a year of asking her too, her mom actually told her to give it a try with me!). Well there are a few "requirements". She is very embarrassed to watch a porn in general and that is why she has never watched one with me. She prefers to have one with a plot (i never really notice any plots in porn. So I want suggestions! I want a great movie, i want one that will make her want to watch more! (I'm excited about this! I want this to go well!) So I ask for suggestions please from all of you! My girl friend's best friend recommended good old Jenna, but the only movie i've seen with her is DreamQuest and I'm pretty sure that would turn her off right away.

from Mookie -

I'm in the same situation as BlakeJob. However, although she hasn't said anything, I know there are some implicit requirements--

1. No anal.
2. No girl/girl.
3. Actresses must be attractive.
4. Plot (if possible, but not necessary)

Is there anything hardcore out there that's this tame?
Hidden Obsessions sounds like a possibility but it does have girl/girl, I assume. Any ideas?

Why don't you start with some softcore and then go from there? But be careful, cause there are LOTS of crappy softcores around. I'm not an expert on softcore, I cannot help you with some titles, so I'm mailing a friend of mine for suggestions. Post 'em later, okay?

Oh, it does. Plenty. But you can always fast-forward the sapphic sequences. It's not like you're losing some important plot point .

Blondie, I wasn't singling out anyone here on ADT, or any single person anywhere, no worries. But the question gets raised again and again here, on RAME, and on various commercial sites (where it isn't a person asking what to watch, but the webmaster asking rhetorically, "What should you you watch with you SO?"). And the answer always seems to be really PC, and I guess I wish that just once someone would suggest something a bit daring.
So I raised the question of why the "daring sugestion" never seems to get made. This seems to have provoked a bit of good discussion, so thanks to you and everyone for sharing their views!

my morning thoughts... sort of on topic....

People often recommend movies to couples or the "my g/f just agreed to watch her first porno" that wouldn't turn many girls on, but would not offend them. Some Wicked movies are the perfect example. Blowjobs dominate the beginning of nearly every m/f sex scene. Sorry, but watching blowjobs does nothing for me. So while Wicked movies fit the bill for big budget, nice looking movies with attractive performers, I don't find them to be the kind of porn movies that will get a woman into watching porn.

Then again maybe there isn't anything even closely universal about what turns women on? Maybe it has to do with age as well?

Dumblonde, you suggested the Candida Royalle movies. I've only seen Eyes of Desire. But I found it insanely slow until the last sex scene (which I thought was really hot.) Maybe I would have thought differently had it been my first porno instead of my 70th?

I always suggest Insatiable because it was the first porn movie that turned me on to porn. While I think Shane's World 19 is a really fun movie for couples, it may not be THE movie that inspires a woman to want more porn.

BTW - Dumblonde, I'm curious - which are your favorite porn movies?

I have always strived to keep my personal tastes out of these things, and go by what the poster says only, which is why I at first was taken aback by Speelie's question. BTW, I'm not a reader of rame, but now that you've explained it more thoroughly, I understand more your posing the question. I agree it's a shame more women aren't into porn, but this is a fact.
I talk to my girlfriends about this and many others as well, and the thing I keep hearing over and over is (and I can't disagree) - all the anal sex, the facials, the DP's, the gapes, etc. are not erotic in the least. And these are not 'sexually repressed' women by any means.
I've noticed people trying to be helpful with suggestions when these questions come up, but very often what the poster says goes ignored, or not given much weight. So, when Mookie specifically stated no anal and no g/g, I was hard pressed to even come up with those two titles. That I might find them to be too vanilla for my tastes is of no consequence here, I fully realize that as a woman who DOES buy and watch porn I'm in a tiny minority. (or should I say abnormal)?
To suggest something that he clearly stated she would find objectionable is really doing the member a disservice.
Just my two cents

Personally, I think you should stay far away from Rocco, Max Hardcore, most Anabolic/Diabolic titles, Private titles, Bukkake, Gang Bangs and anything else that is extreme.

I think these raincoater type films are oriented almost exclusively toward men. Men seem to process sexuality in a different way than women. Many women will find these films repulsive, shocking, abusive and derrogatory.

Like some of the others here, I would suggest trying a Vivid movie or something with a romantic plot. If she seems to enjoy these type films, she *may* at some point be curious about harder stuff.

You may want to try something like Ed Power's Dirty Debutantes. Ed is not very threatening to women and I think his interview style and "seduction" of first timers is a good choice to introduce a female to porn.

I think that's the ticket - a Vivid movie and Ed Powers!

I'm going to move this to Adult DVD Talk as I'm sure there are people who only read the porn forum who can add to this discussion.

I've found that the more I watch porn the more my porn likes change. On many occassions I've wanted to delete my early reviews because I wouldn't feel the same way about X movie if I watched it right now.

The problem with showing a Vivid movie, for example, to a first time female porn watcher, is that the girls are "modified" to look glamorous. Those modifications could intimidate the first time watcher or repell her. As I've said in the past looking at blowup boobs on a skinny body makes me clutch my breasts with thoughts of boob torture.

The problem with say Ed Powers is we'd like some eye candy too. We like to watch attractive men. That's one of the harder requirements to meet.

These are good points Steph that I didn't think about when I posted my suggestions.

About the Vivid girls, I agree some of them look un-natural, but if you are mostly referring to enhanced breasts, that is gonna be hard to escape in most major studio product.

Regarding poor old Ed... even as a guy, I can't disagree with you. On the hot scale, he has to rate pretty low. I think I am recommending him more because I think he is a safe choice, and keeps it real. His amatuerish approach makes the participants seem like real people, not glamour dolls, sex machines or freaks. I think it may be something a new porn viewer can relate to easily without feeling overly squirmish. Or maybe if you do feel squirmish, it helps you relate to the new girl on the screen.

Maybe Randy West in Up & Cummers? He seems pretty respectful to the new girls in the episodes I've watched. But I'm not sure he is gonna work as eye candy either.

Snowman

(I wish Ed would go to "AMIHOT.COM" and post his photo! Then perhaps *he* would discover most ladies feel like Steph about his looks and maybe be a bit less stuck on himself!)
