Compare to the original? If it's even only half as good, surely it's worth getting?

Ryan - if you've waited this long, wait until the end of September.
We'll be coming out with part 3, and at the same time with a box set that has both Safado parts in it.
For anyone who's bought Safado: The Challenge, there was a voucher in there. They can pair that with a voucher that will be in the boxset for a refund towards the purchase cost of Safado: The Challenge.
Personally, my favorite of the 3 movies is Fashionistas Safado: Berlin, followed by Fashionistas 1.

I'm a little confused, Tricia. There's Fashionistas: The Original. Then I assume it's Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge and then it's Fashionistas Safado: Berlin which hasn't actually been released yet or......?

Ryan, they meant to make one sequel, but after they shot it they realized it was going to be extraordinarily long, and it was also going to take forever to edit. So they did like Tarantino did with Kill Bill and divided it into two. So The Challenge and Berlin are like The Fashionistas 2a and 2b, rather than 2 and 3. They edited the first part of the sequel (Safado: The Challenge)and released it as a no-frills DVD set with scant extras. In September they will release the second half of the sequel (Safado: Berlin) by itself, and also a box set with both the Challenege and Berlin, and all the extras not included in the fairly bare bones release that The Challenge was.
As far as the Challenge goes, no, it's not as good as the first, but I'm hoping when Berlin comes out it will put it into context better and it will become more enjoyable then. Because much of disc 2 of the Challenge seems too much like it's just exposition for Berlin. But on disc 1 of the Challenge, Jenna Haze totally kicked ass. Yes, I am a big JH fan, but it surprised me that her part was as big as it was. But she's actually on screen for over half of disc 1, blowing Rocco in public and participating in the early stages of an orgy, blowing Erik Everhard some, and then taking Rocco in her ass in a threesome with Gianna Michaels.

That anal is amazing she seemed scared at first I don't know if was part of the acting but the scene begins slow and then goes hotter and hotter , unbelievable one of the best scenes of her entire career.

It's a good thing that the deadline for inclusion for AVN awards is the end of September. Otherwise, it's possible that John would never finish editing Safado: Berlin.

It could still be in time for the 2009 AVN awards then.
Tricia, is there going to be a boxset with all Fashionistas?

Aw, geez! I was all set to buy the Safado box set, and then you had to go ahead and tease us with THAT! Well, since you opened that can of worms...
How soon can we expect to start seeing some hi-def announcements from Evil Angel? I don't need to know actual launch dates or anything like that - just some basic press releases.

are there various versions from the second part as well?

Sequels are rarely ever as good as the original, both in main-stream and "steam stream" productions.
BUT, the "disjointed disaster," that is Stagliano and Tricia's Safado effort, was "doomed to failure" when they elected NOT to build the sequel plot around Helena, and Taylor St Claire's dynamic portrayal of that character.
I was really looking forward to seeing Taylor, one of the most beautiful and desirable ladies in adult film history, return for a well-orchestrated "steamy" revenge role--set up so perfectly in the original story line.
Instead, for reasons known only to John and Tricia, Taylor is left out of the sequel, while the "vital" character of Helena is "explained away" by a few lines of dialogue, and what could have been a truly GREAT sequel film, is reduced to just another, "second edition."
btw, and to give Stagliano his "just" reward, Fashionistas is one of the greatest erotic films of all-time.
Pity, Safado NEVER had the chance to challenge, from the "get go".......

Oh my god. I've answered this a dozen times.
Not only was Taylor written out at the end of the ORIGINAL (not explained away in the second), she was problematic during filming of Fashionistas.
Despite the obsession of a few people to not be open to the fact that the story went a different place other than rehashing the battle between the exact same characters of the original, I am really happy with the new characters of Safado, and especially with Nacho's portrayal of the title character in both of the Safado parts.
Anime Nut- HD for us won't be until sometime in 2008 at the earliest.

What would have been a cool twist is Helena turning out to be the mastermind of the whole Safado operation, and the bad guy was just a tool of hers who helped carry out her plans for revenge on Antonio and Jesse. Yes, I know that's not the case, but that would have been great.
By the way, I still haven't seen "Safado The Challenge", but of course I want to see it. Also, there's finally a release date for "Safado Berlin".

Tricia,
Have you talked to Pagoda about coming to Washington for a signing yet?
I'm really looking forward to the box-set. You have no idea how difficult it's been not watching "The Challenge". [o\|]

Same here. Since I love the original "Fashionistas", it's only natural that I would want to see the sequel.
When watching the "Berlin" trailer, I'm thinking: what the fuck did Antonio get himself into? That's why I need to see the movie.
