I guess it's my insecurities coming through... A person must have to be really strong emotionally to be able to deal with this kind of stuff.

Just let the other person know beforehand (or immediately after for spurt-of-the-moment deals  ) Best of all: no guilt.But you are all correct: it takes a strong person to be comfortable in those types of relationships. I've known a couple open relationships that haven't worked because of the openness. I know one open marriage that recently failed.
