Howdy! I wanted to take a moment and tell all the rep's here for all the different companies that I appreciate their presence on the forum. I know some of us get a bit heated when discussing matters like in the censorship thread but that doesn't mean you aren't welcome.
I am just a regular member of the group and I spend a fair amount of time here-as available. Recently, I started reviewing movies for the site as a hobby. I try and look at the movies fairly and objectively so I can give an honest opinion. I hope to review a lot more dvd's in the near future.
Anyways, I hope that everyone here on the forum learns to understand the difference between constructive criticism and outright attacks. There is a difference and hopefully, no one will cross the line again. (ie: censorship thread)
That said, I was curious as to how each of you rep's see this site. I look at it as a valuable tool but also a nice place to hang out with friends. I was wondering how helpful we've been to you by providing our input on various topics. Further, I was wondering what suggestions you'd make for this site.
On a related note, what do each of you think we, the consumers, could do to improve the current status of the industry. I know we've touched on some of the bigger issues-ie: politicians, voting, etc-but I meant on a day to day level.
I know that Adam & Eve has begun improving their releases based partly on our input just as I know some of the etailers have offered specials we've requested here. Any comments? Thanks

I really like this site. I, in a very short time have learned alot, informed people about my product, got pissed of by peoples comments, and most important had a boat load of fun.
I think that as consumers, all WE can do is keep doing what we're doing. Discussing in an open forum our likes, dislikes, and talking about how the world can affect our freedoms and for some our livelihood.Did I spell that right? Oh and making friends, and running into old ones. Most of the major players are here. We hear what you have to say and we may not always do what you want us to do, but we do hear you. Anyway I think this site is great and the only thing I would change is the graphics and that is being done as we speak.
Keep it up. Hehe
David

Don-
Even though we try to maintain a low profile here, at Five Star DVD we pay very close attention to the discussions that take place here. For us it's a great way to keep a pulse on our customers. For example, there have been numerous posts about the way certain studios edit their movies or the way they implement extra features on their DVDs. Although not every studio actively participates here in the forum, I can assure you that we bring these issues to their attention. And several studios have made changes to their discs based on feedback that was made in this forum. Of course, as Dave Crawford pointed out, not every suggestion can be used but they are all welcome.
Occasionally comments are made here specifically about us. Each time a post is made about us we circulate it to all of our employees so they can see what is being said about us. We are always looking for ways to improve so the feedback is definitely valued, both positive and negative.
As far as what consumers can do, I have one suggestion. Use the Adult DVD Talk affiliate links when you purchase from your favorite online store. Everything you receive here is FREE including the price search, the forum, the reviews and the live chat with adult stars. I know Steph and Drew don't like to bring this up very often but they rely heavily on affiliate commissions to operate this site. If you enjoy this site and find it valuable please support it by using the affiliate links when you buy.

Nice Topic. Thanks for the reviews- I am pleased! Wait until you see WITCHS TAIL.
I get alot out of the site, sometimes a bit to much. It is easy to get wrapped up in some threads, as I have great passion for what we do at Adam & Eve.
There are two things that stand out (for consumers to do) SUPPORT THE ONLINE STORES THAT SUPPORT THIS FREE FORUM!!!!! Post your good and bad experiences with the stores, many of us only post bad news, (hey, bad news sells!) but some of the negative posts I have read, really are unfair, or not based in fact. More then once, I have seen the late apology. Remember others read these posts, and will avoid a store- based on what you say. Be objective- and give out some good news.
The other item: continue to be BRUTALLY HONEST in your reviews. As a group, we do listen. I have had many conversations with other heads of production who do not post here,
but are aware of certain reviewers and comments/ suggestions seen here.
When one of my DVD'S is reviewed here (NOTICE: THE REVIEWS ARE GETTING BETTER!) I immediately fax or e-mail it to the DVD Author, and movie director. I do not do that that with other reviews.
This forum also offers production companies the ability to share information. While some studios think they have the great "secret" of DVD, we have received great support from VCA and Wicked. Just yesterday Dave Crawford spent some time on the phone (with one of my people)explaining the website access program they use.
I also have released to 4 studios our propietary Hyperlink Internet access, which requires NO downloads, or change of Players.
They learned about the technology here.
There is a some gossip- but who doesn't like some good dirt once in a while!

I too want to join the chorus of praise for this site. Since I have been checking it out for about a month now I have been most impressed with the industry people who post here and also how cordial everyone is. It is so nice unlike Rame which I still read that you can have adults talk about what they like and dislike without spam or profanity directed at you. This site is where I first go to look for any new developments and I look forward to the new look on Monday. Hope everyone has a nice weekend, I actually get a Saturday off tomorrow, lol. see ya

Thanks for the replies guys! I agree that this is a more user friendly site than others and I've been a supporter since the beginning (I was one of the many who pushed Steph into starting this place). I have made a lot of orders over the last year or so and you retailers may remember me as the guy that sends a followup letter giving credit to Steph/ADT for my usually large purchases. I use the links but the letter puts a face on the transaction.
I have been very happy with 5 star's service during this time as well as other affiliates. In return, y'all have always treated me right and it is appreciated. I buy virtually every adult dvd via this site nowadays with a slight exception for Divadee/Dvdjam. Of course, that exception now seems to be over with. I do wish they'd formally notify that my orders are cancelled (they managed to fulfill most of my outstanding orders a week or two ago). I shopped with them out of habit-that's where I met Steph!
JKrull, I have had the fortunate opportunity to acquire a couple of your Premium titles-Bad Penny and Pure Bliss-so I have no doubt you're going to like my reviews if they are as good as they seem. I hope to get Witches Tail (any hope for a review copy?) as well.
Speaking of reviews, please feel free to email me if you'd like to discuss a review. The same goes for the rest of you. I'm new to reviewing for others-aside from the hordes I've encouraged to visit here-and I am still learning. I've backed off from giving "blow by blow" descriptions of each movie as so many others do but I'm sure I could use a few pointers. I've tried to add in some of the awards a performer may have won as well as better titles they're in as a bonus. (on a side note, a friend of mine bought a title I savaged last week because he thought it must be pretty good to have gotten to me so much...)
Anyways, I hope all of your businesses succeed with a little help from Steph & ADT. Even when I disagree with some of you, I know there's respect behind the arguement. Too bad that Rame isn't like that...

Thank you to all of you - and to everyone who helps make this place a friendly, intelligent forum - and when I say forum I don't just mean this message board, I mean the reviews, the chats, and the emails.
This kind of interactive between consumers, studios, stores and stars is the whole point of Adult DVD Talk. I think we still have a long way to go, but this is a fantastic beginning.

I too have used this site to learn a lot in a short time about the consumers and the other companies.
It has given me a chance to talk with JKrull and people from VCA. I welcome any company representatives to contact me with any questions or input.
I would like to restate that although I read all comments about my companies DVDs, I have to do what I think is best for the majority, so if you don't immediately see your suggestion acted on, don't be offended. Just keep giving us your constructive input.
Thanks everyone,

I'd just like to thank all the comanies who frequent ADVD. It does make a difference having you here, and I realize that, as Tricia said, you have to do what's best for your customer base as a whole and can't do everything we suggest. Thanks for just being here and supporting ADVD. As a consumer, I do look to the products made by companies who support ADVD and mostly avoid products by companies who shun ADVD. Thanks in no particular order to Wicked, Adam & Eve Evil Angel, VCA, Digital Sin, and the companies who I'm forgetting (sorry). Also, thanks to the retailers like 5 Star, Adult DVD Now, DVD Advantage, Adult DVD Empire, and all of the other retailers I'm forgetting (sorry again).

With the new forum software we have the ability to add custom descriptions to a member's profile. example: I have changed Tina Tyler's profile from 'Member' to 'Mistress of Adult DVD Talk'. You can see it in this thread.

If any of the company representatives would like to have their profiles updated to include their title/company just drop me a note to drew@adultdvdtalk.com.

Tricia, I think most of us here are intelligent enough to know that our input isn't the final word. I'm happy that most of you (ie: studio's, etailers, etc)-especially those who are active on the forums here-listen to what we say. I have encouraged others here to make CONSTRUCTIVE comments as those are the ones y'all listen to and use to affect change.

That said, this site has more potential to help ALL of us-consumers and businesses alike-because Steph cares. How many sites are simply another business or just a vanity project of someone trying to make a quick buck off the net? Those sites simply won't be able to compete with ADT over the long run.

I have a friend (I know, it's an unbelievable story already) and we discussed websites and affiliates the other night. She read a few of my reviews (and supposedly howled in laughter) but was confused about my comments on prices. Her own website has a few affiliates that charge almost full MSRP and she had no idea that alternatives existed! Of course the problem is that she now has to decide what to do about it. She can't, in good conscience, continue to tell her friends that her affiliates have great prices. As word gets out, ADT is going to overwhelm this type of site.

The companies that treat customers right will continue to flock here and so will consumers who demand to be treated well. How many of you have been mistreated by an online company in the past? I know I have and I made it a point to tell others. I also have made it a point to tell others about the good companies. Over time, the bad ones will die off and sites like this one help speed up that process.

That's why it's important to a) spread the word, b) contribute thoughts and ideas, c) use the affiliate links, and d) listen to each other. (BTW, Steph doesn't pay me to say this-she couldn't afford me!)

Tina, what plans do you have now that you are officially the 'Mistress of Adult DVD Talk'? Are you going to start your own column? (hint hint)

That said, I just reviewed a few movies you were in. I particularly liked the Nina Hartley Making Love to a Woman one. I have an idea for a followup. How about Nina Hartley's How to Make Love to a Movie Reviewer? You could both use me as an example. I'd suggest we follow the mainstream trend and make it a double dvd release-two sides, both packed with extra's... ;)
