Bill  All-Star Member 5334 Posts 6/00 | Posted - Sep 14 2004 : 10:20PM Component is required if you want to take advantage of progressive scan capabilities in your DVD player (if you have a progressive scan DVD player). Your plasma will be capable of 480p, you may as well send it 480p. Other than that, component is definitely better than S-video, but there's not as much difference as between composite and S-Video.
