I've talked a lot about how the limitted returns available within the usual avenues of distribution is one of the strongest influences on the creative aspects of erotic filmmaking. Once you cross the line into "porn", you get cut off from mainstream markets, and mainstream returns.
That's why JCM made such a big deal about how "no one got an erection" at the Cannes screening of SHORTBUS, and why it's a big deal to us that the MPAA just gave MARIE & JACK an NC-17, and that's why getting our films listed on Amazon.com is a big deal for us too. Simply put, there are a lot people who would never feel comfortable coming to a site like ADT or ComstockFilms.com, but who do feel comfortable shopping at a place like Amazon.
Of course you should buy our films from ADT Affiliated retailers, but it would be a huge help to me and Peggy if you go to Amazon.com and write nice reviews so all those poor people who don't know about ADT and have to find out about what we do through Amazon can read your reviews and that will help them work up the nerve to order a sexy film!
So please please please, if you like the films we make, go over to Amazon and writing something nice. You'll be helping bring the pleasure of Comstock Films into bedroom all around the world!
Your enthusiastic support is an ongoing source of strength to us here at Comstock Films.

I can't review it till I see it. Do you know of any Toronto shops where Comstock films might be available (for rent)? I haven't seen them anywhere but I tend to rent from places that don't exclusively deal with adult releases.
If you don't know of any there are a few shops which I can think of that *should* have your stuff for rent. Though maybe when I visit all the Comstock films are already gone.
I'll see if they rent, Good For Her is within walking distance. There are a few other independent video rental places that also rent adult stuff in sort of "hipster" neighborhoods who ought to carry your stuff but do not.
I think a good rule of thumb for Amazon is to imagine you're trying to tell you mom about these film, unless your mom is Mae West.

Another place you might want to talk to is Seduction which is probably the best known adult shop in Toronto, they have everything from stripper clothes to dvds. I mention it because it is not the least bit seedy. And because it is more friendly to males then the other shops you mentioned.
Strange as it may seem, shops like CAYA, etc are mostly unaware of the unwelcoming vibe that many men feel in their stores. I wish that making people feel at ease was not a zero sum game, but sometime it seems that it is. Make men feel at ease, and women will feel put off. Make the LGTB community feel at home, and breeders will turn away.
Oh well.
Thanks for the tip on Seduction. We'll give 'em a shout tomorrow!
It's a silly word game that has to be played. But it's worth it. Since getting our Amazon listings, they haven't been able to keep our films in stock for more than a few days before they order more. I won't be surprised if by the end of the year they end up being our best wholesale customer.
Of course some nice reviews from ADTers won't hurt!
