There has been a lot of discussion on the board about how competitive the porn market is these days. I can't imagine that many directors are eager to do anything that will limit their sales. As far as the original question goes though, I would guess that the one guy had a condom because that particular performer has a condom only policy. Or who knows, maybe he was freaked out by Taylor or was suspicious of her test results? |

I feel that porn is supposed to be fantasy (in spite of the fact that real people are used). The sight of a condom is a reminder of some of the more unpleasant aspects of sexual contact. I wonder how I'm supposed to just ignore the fact that there's a reminder of disease and pregnancy right in the middle of my fantasy. On the other hand, I ask if I really have the right to demand that someone I've never met (and probably never will) put their health at risk for my entertainment. Should I just try and ignore the condoms and start buying condom only videos, thereby voting with my wallet that I'm willing to give up a small portion of my fantasy so that others aren't placed under quite as high a risk? I don't know. I don't mind being selfish. But I'm being more than selfish when I refuse to buy videos in which condoms are used. I'm being completely unreasonable. I'm leaving studios (and therefore directors and performers) with no alternative but to conform to my condom free fantasy. I wonder, sometimes, how the performers themselves feel about it? Do they resent it? Would they prefer to use condoms if they thought the product would still do well? But of course, it would require the exclusion of something I really enjoy a lot - facial, oral and anal cumshots. Would I still watch? Could I bring myself to? There's no easy answer. I think that I would feel better knowing they were safer but at the same time, I'd be very disappointed with the product and the inability to find what I like. |
