Hi, everyone, quick question, is there any successful method or program available out there that makes it pretty darn difficult for someone to rip your content off your DVD? Any advice or pointers would be great. Thanks!
Hi Lara, There is a way to break virtually any and every copy protection scheme out there. Due to our Forum policies here at ADT, I can't mention any software names. Jules Jordan is someone who takes this stuff very seriously, and has prosecuted and won, so you might try talking to him. If I recall correctly, you are very interested in Internet porn. I have encountered websites that make it very difficult to download stills from their sites. Maybe somebody else knows what technology they're using to accomplish this. Although, I must add, most people subscribing to paysites expect to be able to download content, especially stills, and keep it. Frankly, it's the pros that you need to be afraid of, not the casual porn consumers. You will never be able to stop the pros... (a lot of them won't even be U.S. based). P.S. Sorry Lara, but the simple answer is no. There are lots of people who will happily take your money for methods that don't work, but it comes down to this: if the content can be watched, it can be copied. The only thing copy protection systems are likely to do is annoy and drive away your paying customers, because sometimes when they bring the DVD home after buying it, they find it will not play.

Problem is the the net has a better cost to profit ratio, than the sole production of DVD's and if parlayed right, one can get both your internet audience and DVD audience. Just like Bang Bros. has.

In order to at least get some promo out of your pirated movies - put some company logo schwag in the scene - clothes, backdrop, whatever. It's less annoying than a watermark and gets the point across.
There are schemes that are fairly effective, but they are expensive and will be defeated at some point. The best way to find out what's working is to go to forums for DVD ripping software and see what DVDs people are having trouble with. As an alternative, go to the HandBrake forum as that sort of question comes up from time to time (HandBrake can transcode unencrypted MPEG-2 to H.264 video - it doesn't rip or decrypt anything but sometimes people ask anyway).
