Hey guys-
Just a heads up on a pretty good deal on the new adult anime DVDs "Cool Devices". After seeing it on the home page of ADT, I checked all my DVD sites (Empire, Express, Amazon, Reel, Five Star, DiVadee) and DVD Empire had the best price on the 3 DVD box set, $49.95 (38% off its $79.95 list). Pretty good deal on the set since they sell the individual volumes for $24.95. DVD Express was the only other site I found to have it listed and in stock, and they have it for $63.96 (20% off list). Anyhow, I picked up the box set sight unseen from Empire (IMO the single easiest and best site overall to order from on the internet, DVDs or anything else).
I was not a big fan of the La Blue Girl series (too much alien/monster/demon-human sex and not enough human-human) so I hope I like Cool Devices better. Anyone have any more info on these DVDs? Guess I dont have too long to wait before I can see for myself

For those of us living in states which are black-listed by online retailors such as DVD Empire, I recommend getting The Cool Devices box set from [url=466314]www.animenation.com</A . They, too have the set for $49.95 (individual volumes are $19.95). Their shipping is high at $6.00 per order, but it's a flat rate, so you can order as much as you want for that price. They're a smaller company, and don't do a great job of sending emails that keep you up-to-date on the status of your order, but I've ordered from them several times in the past, and they are reliable at getting the orders out in a timely manner (unless you order import items). More importantly, as I said, it is the best deal from a company that ships to all 50 states (don't know about international).
If you would prefer to use Adult DVD Talk's affilliate links, the next best deal for those in XXX-challenged states can be had at Adult DVD Now, which I also highly recommend, as they have terriffic customer service and price-matching. They have all 3 individual volumes for $19.95, which with shipping for all 3 is $63.85, making it cheaper than DVD Express (which comes to 67.81 after shipping for the box, since their shipping policy treats the box set as 3 items). Also, Adult DVD Now might even price match (minus $1) at Animenation, which would knock another $3.00 off the price (though I'm not sure if their price-match policy covers all sites).
Anyway, I hope this is helpful to those of us unlucky enough to live in the backwards parts of the country. I haven't seen the set yet, but it looks great, and I like the idea of the story-vignette style of the series. Hopefully someone will post a review soon!

Trogon,
I'm not sure what you mean by "black-listed." If you mean that the state in which you live does not allow adult material, then it is not Adult DVD Empire's law. I would suggest that you petition you congressman about this flagrant disregard of first ammendment rights. But then, it was your state's populance that voted them into office in the first place--meaning that the majority of people in you state feel that the adult citizens of your state are not able to handle adult material.
Just setting the records straight.

MasterB,
Welcome to ADT. Thanks for joining us.
I know there are a number of states that some adult DVD retailers will not ship to. I know in some instances the laws against porn are State laws. In other instances the laws are county or local laws. Many stores simply will not ship to the states that these areas are in simply because the state is comprised of a high percentage of areas with these laws. (This is especially true in the bible belt states.)
Does anyone know if there is a good resource available for this type of information? I've always relied on Adult DVD Empire's no-ship list for my info. It's the most comprehensive (and I assume accurate) list that I have found.

Five Star DVD has the individual dvds for $14.99 each. Plus they still have a $10 off $40 coupon active until 3/19! You can find it in the bargains section of this forum. So, your total would be $34.97 + shipping. For that price, I think I can live without the box.

Yeah, but unfortunately, Fivestar is one of the retailors that won't ship to my state. Thanks to the new price search, I ordered the three individual discs from Adult DVD Now, and had them beat Lasersedge's price of $14.95 by $1.00 (Fivestar's price would also work well for Adult DVD Now's low price guarantee). With shipping, my total for all 3 came to $45.85. Not as good as if I could shop directly from Fivestar and use a coupon, but it's the best I can do for where I live.
By the way, I'm not really clear on whether or not porn is illegal in my entire state or not, but I doubt it, since we have several adult novelty & video stores. I'm guessing that it must be a few counties' laws that are ruining it for the rest of us. Thankfully, there are a handful of online retailors who will ship here regardless, and I've never encountered or heard of any problems here regarding the purchase of pornographic goods.

Actually I think the best is Dvd Talk Now price matching the 5 star $35.95 set less $1. It may come to $1 more than buying the three disks separately, but once you add in shipping (for 1 instead of 3), you still make off better.
The one flaw is that you are 2 discs farther away from a free disc at DTN. Oh well, just thought of that now.
Anyone know if there is any difference in product between the 3 disc collector's set and the 3 discs individually?

There's some risk involved with using the Adult DVD Now price-match on any title. First, the competitor you are matching against must have the title in stock. Second, you have to actually place an order and note the price match on the order form. Not only is that a manual process, but there's the possibility that the competitor will go out of stock by the time they go to confirm the pricing.
Also, for the minority that are located in the state of California, note that state sales tax is likely to exceed the $1 that you save by invoking the price match. That's the reason why I haven't used the ADN price match...I end up upside down most of the time versus buying from a store outside of California.
Anyhow, I think the best deal on Cool Devices is still at Five Star DVD, using the $10 off $40 purchase. You get the 3 disc box set, then add a cheap ($8.88 or $9.99) disc... The total ends up being around $35-36 after the $10 coupon. Plus, with four discs, you get free shipping. That's the equivalent of "buy the box set, get a free DVD and free shipping"...
