Everytime I do business with a certain co. that begins with"Bizarro" in Arizona I wind up with my number being stolen and used by some geek who buys trading cards and computer games. So far I have able to catch it. I also notified the company this morning that they are either compromised or just plain crooked. What can you expect from bootleggers I guess ? [Link] |

American Express caught it before I did and reissued me a new card without me even contacting them. The second instance happened recently and it was a bitch to deal with. I don't know who did it or how they did it but someone managed to create a duplicate of my card and used it to pay for a $3000 Persian rug in London, England. My credit card company gave me a hard time in disputing the charge because it was a "card present" situation where the shopper physically had the card in their possession and used it to make the purchase. I was in Mexico at the time of the purchase but had not used the card for any purchases in Mexico. When I told the credit card company that I could prove that I was in Mexico and not London at the time of the purchase they finally agreed to take the $3000 off of my balance. It took about two hours on the phone with them to get to that point. A week later I had to fill out a number of forms swearing that it wasn't me that made the purchase and I had not given my card to anyone. It was a huge PITA. I canceled that card. [Link] |
