Is it my imagination, or is there a steady increase in the use of crucifixes by female porn stars in major pornography products (like brad armstrong directed wicked pictures features)?
It is like a subtle mock of Christianity (i am not christian) - particularly when there is a cumshot involved. It is hardly ever directly on the crucifix, but the supposedly divine religious symbol can easily be splattered with the juice as it is and sometimes you even see the girl spit out cum which goes down her chin and onto her chest (the camera is usually very teasing in that you don't get a clear picture of it).
Don't ask how i know this.
Anyone else notice this as well??

Sorry are you referring to the girl wearing a crucifix pendant on a chain during a sex scene, or are you referring to someone actually holding a crucifix (small or large) and incorporating it into the sex somehow?
[edit: by that second part, I'm thinking like The Exorcist kind of thing]

I don't know. They seem to be pretty much everywhere so I'm not surprised they turn up in porn.
I really doubt there's that much thought involved in it. If the girl has ass antlers because all the other girls have ass antlers, she's probably wearing a crucifix because all the "cool" people wear crucifixes.

Actually, there is. I can't remember what movie it was but the director purposefully dressed the girl with a crucifix to be ironic.
Randy Spears always wears a crucifix - for almost 20 years. I don't know what's going on behind that.

Well, I'm sure it happens. I just meant that I kind of doubt it's always deliberate.
Maybe it's his trademark.

Jesus died so that men could ejaculate on a women's face.

Oh, I'm referring to crucifix necklaces and pendants - not the deliberate use of a crucifix as a dildo or other sexual toy. There is plenty of the latter now on the Internet, but I would say that for the most part, it remains underground and a bit of a fetish (in comparison to mainstream porn).
However, I personally think that a general trend in both hardcore and softcore porn is the use of religious imagery - in a subtle way in which some users will ignore it, some will see it and not care, and some (the religions crowd who may somehow think that they can watch porn and be good Christians at the same time) will be shocked, offended, or even titillated.
I could go through and give you a *huge* list of mainstream porn titles that have a girl wearing a crucifix. Sometimes it is splattered with cum, others times it is not.
And has bobcat pointed out, there are sites with nun porn and crucifix deification (which I'll distinguish from *accidentally* defiling a hard to see necklace of a cross while doing a mainstream porn scene). My original question really revolved around how *accidental* this increasing trend actually is.
p.s. my favorite scene involving a crucifix would have to be the lesbian nun scene from "Faith's Fantasies". I have never been able to remove that image from my mind.

Huh...I always thought the cross to be a torture device.
I mostly agree with RandomPrecision that people wear them as an accessory, but hats off to any Christian-pornsters who want the public to realize that even devout Christians can partake in life's fullest pleasures.

I've noticed that too with all the crucifixes too, and it got me thinking too about porn and the god disparity....and then I saw Olivia O'Lovely with one on and then I just thought good GOD that ass is killer and it didn't matter to me anymore

Isn't there a difference between a crucifix and a cross? While I don't recall ever seeing any scenes which use the former, I have seen plenty of pornstars wearing cross accessories in their scenes. I figure the reason is because, as far as fashion is concerned, crosses are not viewed exclusively as religious symbolism. Not everyone who wears a cross is religious, or even a Christian. Many non-religious people wear them as well.
In fact, the cross seems to be one of many symbols that people may not necessarily identify with its original meaning. For example, I have seen many people, including atleast one very hot porn chick, who have tattoos of the crescent moon. While it's possible all these people may be Muslim, I somehow doubt it. Also, the Star of David is now used as a symbol representing a certain infamous urban street gang. Despite all the people I see wearing the yin-yang symbol around their necks, I doubt many of them actually adhere to either Taoism, or any other form of Chinese philosophy.
Likewise, the cross has become a popular accessory that many people wear without much thought, if any, to its religious meaning. When I see pornstars wearing it, I just figure that, like many other people, they might just like the way it looks, not necessarily because of religious beliefs.
Not to digress, but since we're on the subject of religious imagery in porn, I have noticed other times where it has been present, and it does raise curiosity into whether it was done deliberately or just by happenstance. Mostly, it just looks odd. For example, there is a scene on BangBros (I don't recall which specific scene or site it is) that comes to mind. I didn't watch the whole video, but in the trailer, we see that the scene starts outdoors, but the sex takes place in a house. When the couple first enters the house on their way to the "sex area," they walk pass a very conspicuous picture hanging on a hallway wall. The picture is that of a very famous- in fact the most famous- religious figure. The picture is not in the scene for more than a second, only in that one brief part when they happen to walk pass it. I figure that the house was, of course, rented, that whoever owned the house had the picture on the wall, and that it just wasn't taken down prior to filming. While I doubt that it was placed in the shot deliberately, it still just looked peculiar seeing it in the scene at all.
In addition to that, there is another scene- I think on the AnalTeenAngels website(?)- that has an uncolored painting of The Last Supper in the background during the scene. Since Da Vinci's painting is an artistic masterpiece valued throughout the world, including by secularists, it is clear that one doesn't have to be religious in order to appreciate the painting. While having it in the background of a porn scene does is quite unusual, I didn't find it offensive or necessarily inappropriate.
To answer the original question, I don't tend to see any mockery in pornstars wearing cross jewelry or accessories, since so many people wear them anyway. After all, how many pornstars have I seen with cross tattoos? A lot. I think it's just perhaps fashionable, despite the religious meaning. But again, as for crucifixes, which are different from a cross, I think that just might be pushing things a bit too far.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to have to disagree a bit. As we are not talking about nun porn or anything like that, it is certainly possible and very likely in some instances that religious iconography in a porn flick is happenstance or coincidental.
If it were a star of david, it might not matter so much since Judaism is very liberal with regards to sex and that sort of thing (generally speaking). A crescent has many meanings and was never originally a part of Islam. The ying-yang has come to mean many things and can't be connected back to its religious origins necessarily (as you are stating with the cross). But as for the cross, while it may have meant many things during different time periods...it is certainly seen as a religious symbol first and foremost in the present day. Particularly when we talk about necklaces.
Using a cross in a bondage flick my not have any religious significance as the cross was a torture device like love_that_porn stated. I also agree that many Christians wear the cross or a crucifix as a fashion symbol - because they don't seem to know much about their religion or because they aren't very religious at all. They may still claim to be a Christian. But *most* of the time, I don't see non-Christians or agnostics or atheists wearing a cross...as a fashion accessory or anything else. And a lot of goths are exactly that, non-practicing christians who are more interested in being a part of a subculture as opposed to believing in all of its tenets and going against their former religion.
I really like goth porn btw.
So I return to my observation that the cross is often put into porn flicks intentionally to mock the religion that, in context of where most porn is actually produced, calls those who engage in sex outside of marriage as heathens and other bad things. Buddah doesn't really say that so having a buddah necklace wouldn't (typically) have the impact. And those who are christian or were once christian are the ones who are the target audience of porn...not the monks of tibet or anything like that. So that is another factor.
And to add to the discussion, you should check out the third scene from "My Girlfriend's A Vampire" - i believe they *very subtly* use a crucifix and not a cross :O

I've wondered about this for a long time. My feelings are all over the place. At first, as a good little Lutheran girl, I was a bit offended about the mix of the cross neckchains or crucifixes ( there is a difference) hanging around the necks of both males and females as they fuck in front of the camera. My conflict though is that (please no flaming here) it's not really counter intuitive for a sex worker or pornstar to subscribe to a set of religious beliefs so if it has a personal meaning to them I applaud them for it.
