I'm almost embarassed to admit this but one time I accidentally squirted some of my splooge in one of my eyes in the heat of passion and yes, it did hurt like hell. From what I've read about this, I think its cuz of the sodium that is in semen (along with other things of course) but I'm not a doctor so I'm not entirely sure about this...

Actually, I'm not a doctor but I am really smart and I am good a figgerin' stuff out. Obviously, the spermatazoa mistake your eyeball for an egg and keep slamming into it in a frenzy of fertilization, thus causing the discomfort.

Cheers!

There's a whole lotta stuff in semen that doesn't belong in eyes! Sugar, enzymes meant to break through the heavy mucus plug of a cervix, all sorts of funky proteins and various other man-goo (that's the scientific word for it, ya know). The pH of semen is basic, too (if I remember right... I didn't get out my books and check on this one) - that means it would burn like bleach in your eye (tears and blood are near the neutral 7 pH).

Also, men who use drugs like cocaine have that in their semen, and some of those drugs can be absorbed through the membranes around the eyes - another good reason to keep man-goo out of your eyeballs.

Thanks Kimi, I knew it had to have something to do with the pH but didn't know if it was basic or acidic. Checked my chemistry notes and bleach is basic. 0-6 is acidic, 7 is neutral, and 8-14 are basic. No wonder it burns so bad!

I pulled this from ThriveOnline

Interesting to say the least...

"...Only about one percent of the total volume of semen is actually sperm.

Semen contains aboutonia, ascorbic acid, blood-group antigens, calcium, chlorine, cholesterol, choline, citric acid, creatine, deoxyribonucleic acid, fructose, glutathione, hyaluronidase, inositol, lactic acid, magnesium, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, purine, pyrimidine, pyruvic acid, sodium, sorbitol, spermidine, spermine, urea, uric acid, vitamin B12, and zinc -- but all in very modest quantities. Some of this is designed to nourish the semen in route, while other ingredients are designed to neutralize the acidic environment of the vagina (which would normally be inhospitable to sperm)."

What the hell is hyaluronidase?

Well, The Merck Index categorizes hyaluronidase as a spreading factor (no pun intended I'm sure) or diffusing factor. It is any of three enzymes that cleave glycosidic bonds of hyaluronic acid. The skin is the largest store of hyaluronidase in the body, however, it is found in mammalian testicular and spleen tissue. Also, it appears in bee venom, snake venom, and certain bacteria (staphylococcus, clostridium, and streptococcus). It may regulate the velosity of water and metabolite exchange by decreasing the viscosity of the intracellular matrix. The Merck Index also states that sperm is rich in the enzyme and can thus advance better in the cervical canal and reach the ovum. It appears that it is used in pharmacologic preperations to promote absorption and diffusion.

Boring facts, but I like the spreading factor thing. We can now argue that it's meant to be spread around like that!

Isn't that what I said? "Man-goo" - LOL
I didn't think anyone wanted a regular recipe for the stuff, but it's fun to see someone else post it!

From our experience , sperm in the eyes does NOT hurt. The pH of the sperm fluid is slightly basic. It's quite close to the pH of tears, close enough not to cause irritation.
