S. AFRICAN PREZ CHALLENGES AIDS EXPERTS
Prompted by information taken from the Internet, S. African President Thabo Mbeki disputes whether HIV causes AIDS and shrugs off medicines used in the West to treat the disease. [url=466736]http://www.backwire.com/go.asp?cid=16839&bx=http://www.washingtonpost.com/</A
I think that AIDS and HIV have become a sad part of all communitys, but I found this appaling and wanted to share w/ ya'll.
Growl, this thrilled me too... [url=466737]http://www.religioustolerance.org/hom_0077.htm</A
And thanks Al! It's all my pleasure.

Are you folks familiar with John Aravosis?
He's this gay lawyer out of Washington DC, who doubles as a political consultant and internet activist... He's also fucking brilliant when it comes to "gay rhetoric" -- the "forceful discussion" of gay rights issues.
This guy KNOWS how to work the media. He's the driving force behind the stopdrlaura.com website, and was more responsible than anyone else for turning Matthew Shepard's death into a national discussion of hate crimes...
Check out his web pages devoted to anti-gay "Hate Speech" among conservative Christian organizations... Just show people a few quotes from [url=466723]THIS SITE</A anytime you hear that the Religious Right is supposedly acting out of "love" for us...
Anyway, John has this email list that's easy to subscribe (or unsubscribe) to... I find it invaluable for fast-breaking major gay issues...
I'm including the full text of today's "List" e-mail below -- so you can see what he's all about. It's basically the latest Dr. Laura news along with some great other links.

State laws that go into effect July 1 reflect U.S. debate over morality. Among them: A law permitting posting 10 Commandments in state courthouses and schools, another protecting gay civil unions. [url=466705]http://www.backwire.com/go.asp?cid=26232&bx=http://www.usatoday.com/</A

I definately read it, but I'll also confess that I've seen many (most?) of the items by the time they show up here...
I get the Advocate and Planet Out daily emails, and have gay keywords defined on lots of the major news services and portal sites.
Still, my appetite for gay news comes and goes -- just like my appetite for regular news... Sometimes it's all just so much background noise, and at other times I'm rabidly paying attention to every little detail...
Anyway, thanks. Consider yourself stroked. You can even purr if you'd like.
How about anyone else? Is this thread worth all of -lunacy-'s time and effort?

I read it. Now that I live in southern CA 'news' is quite different than it was in northern. If it doesn't involve death or disaster we don't hear about it in the local news.
I think that current events in the gay/lesbian communities say quite a bit about the state of our society.

SCOUTS UN-TOLERABLE HONOR
The "new American establishment" goes too far by making tolerance an "unchallengeable" rule, says columnist Michael Kelly, citing reaction to the Boy Scouts' refusal of gays.

somewhat off topic - but i had to say that i already hated the scouts because when i was a kid it was the girls clubs or nothing - well the girl scouts/brownies/etc didn't go camping or anything fun - so it was nothing for me. i was quite resentful of the boy scouts. now i have a much better reason to dislike 'em
