In my case, I should have clarified...I bought the woman a small, inexpensive digital camcorder with a remote and a tripod. Both were $300 or so at Best Buy. I shipped them to her and told her she could keep them after she was finished making me the vid. I also included a Fedex mailer (prepaid) to ship me back the memory stick containing the video. So all in it cost me closer to $850 for a half-hour custom vid. It also is important that you are reasonable about your request. If you demand a lot of close-up work from odd angles, she's not going to be able to do this by herself and will need to either enlist a friend or (more likely) hire a professional camera person. I kept my script simple, required very few words (other than my wifes name) and kept the 'scene' to something someone could reasonably perform by herself with a camcorder and a remote (for minor camera adjustments). Just be reasonable and you'll get reasonable responses in reply. I actually "met" this performer via the boards here. I simply made an email request of her via her official website and the rest was pretty easy from there. Just treat them like a professional and most will treat you professionally in return. [Link] |
