I recently ordered some DVDs from MoviesByMail. UK customs opened the package and removed 2 items.
However now they seem to be opening all my US mail. The last 4 packages shipped from LasersEdge have now all been opened. I made sure not to order anything considered obscene for this very reason. Customs have NEVER opened any of my previous orders from LasersEdge.
My question is, how long before customs leave me alone? Or will my packages be forever monitored?!
I have no idea how things work in your country like how tough they are when it comes to opening posts. I still can't believe they're allowed to remove items you buy online, I mean what kind of law is that?
Thanks for your reply. Like I said, I've not had a problem until now. Everything has been fine. I was wondering if the same had happened to others out there. And if they had to be careful what they ordered from then on?
It really defies belief that in a world full of crime, war and terrorism, that we adults in the UK can't watch consensual adult entertainment made for and by consenting adults.
I live in the USA and have ordered from EroDVD before and never had customs open anything. Then my last shipment US Homeland Security opened the envelope and then opened the envelope inside and put it all back inside. They put a piece of their customs tape across it and everything came to me ok.
I seem to be waiting forever for deliveries from the u.s at the moment although not adult stuff....just stuff from dvdpacific...usually takes 7 days....had one take 2 n half weeks and had a customs cleared stamp on it for the first time ever, the other 3 parcels are now 3 and a half weeks since post date...i suspect theyre sitting in customs.
I've never had a problem. If i remember correctly, they use an obscure Victorian law that allows individual officers to decide what's not allowed (and then take them home presumably). Scandalous but probably not much you can do.
@ukbadboy Could be onto something there. I was beginning to wonder if one of my DVDPacific packages had gone missing. Of 3 orders, 2 arrived after about 2 and a half weeks and I'm still waiting for the other (over 3 weeks now).
Indeed; the UK authorities are completely OBSESSED by porn (as well as curtailing any other personal freedoms that they can think of...); sadly, things are getting worse, not better. The UK government seems determined to push ahead with its proposals to criminalise the mere possession of so-called ‘extreme porn’, in England & Wales, despite a majority of respondents to its ‘consultation’ opposing the move, and expert legal opinion concluding that such a move would be incompatible with the European Convention on Human Rights. If/when their proposals become law, material that they consider 'extreme', though featuring consenting adults, that would probably just be confiscated at the moment, in the future, it could land you in jail for up to 3 years!
I've noticed the same thing happening to me lately. I've been buying DVDs from the US for several years now and not had any problems with Customs opening my parcels until about 6 months ago when I had one that was opened by Customs.
I've now noticed that virtually every one of my US mail are being opened by Customs, I'm now beginning to wonder I've been black listed on their system somewhere, and that all US post will be opened!!
Another package received from Lasersedge...opened by customs. I don't know what I would do without them! I mean I could be exposed to all sorts of obscene items!!!!
My latest package from DVDPacific was not opened however.
What's even more amazing is that people who don't watch porn and make women cover their bodies and faces -- like radical Muslim extremists -- are the ones killing people.
People buying and watching porn are, well, um, jerking off. Can't have that!
