I would have picked Adrianna... that's me... I do know that a huge portion of men and women out there who like porn, would rather see a Dani Daniels scene than a triple anal or 10 guys spitting and slopping on a performers face. What is popular in this community is not as widespread as you think. There is more to a POTY consideration than just who did the most scenes, or who did the hardest and most difficult sex acts. It is a representation of the industry so people think about that when deciding who it is. Some years they may want someone edgier and more extreme, some years (like this one), they want someone softer and more gentle. Porn awards are often political. The POTY is attached to their name, and there is a case to be made that it is someone who is beautiful and does softer style of scenes; instead of a triple anal or a 10 man slop filled gag fest showing up in the first search result. That is a decision they have to make as an organization and group of voters, as to who they want to represent their brand. When the part of the reason for these awards is to present a nice image to the mainstream crowd, a beautiful woman with one man is a very good image to show. It is what it is. AVN may think differently and chose someone else. XBIZ could very well chose a more hardcore performer next year. Who knows. I don't think we need to bring out the pitchforks and torches over it.
