Click bait Homoerotic fiction is doing surprisingly well—among straight women - an article in The Economist. I know this is text fiction, but I wonder if it would sell as a video equivalent. People are always trying to tap into the underserved female market for porn. [Link] |

I've argued in the past that XXX versions of a big story movie wouldn't work because the sex scenes would stop the plot and story momentum. It would be too herky jerky. But I'm also used to seeing movies from a man's perspective. XXX features typically have a lot of sex scenes that run several minutes each. But the scenes are designed to be jerk-off material. The plot of the feature is just binding to put the scenes together. If you were making a porn feature for women, say a danmei film, maybe you don't need ten scenes in a 90 minute movie--maybe you only need two. Maybe you don't need the scenes each to be 11 minutes long. Maybe you don't need each scene to be blow-job and fuck, with pauses to change positions and camera angles. Maybe you'd end up with something that fits the rythmns of women's attention and interest instead of a guy's. Maybe I'm wrong, but I've long read how very different most women's needs and interest in porn is than men's. It may end up being the genre of the future. Problem is that I don't really want to read any danmei fiction myself in order to analyze it further. |

| BlackSix All-Star Member pornography wasn't sex but fantasies of an impossibly hospitable world 12377 Posts 9/07 | Narrative pornography in film/video has obviously lost out to gonzo but written pornography, for obvious reasons, continues to be narratively driven. Before film pornography became widely available the majority of readers of pulp and literate pornography appeared to be men as well, it is only now that men dominate visual pornography as the assumed consumers that written pornography and narrative are assumed to appeal to women. Similar to how women where not supposed to ride horses and now they are a cliché appeal to women, or how women were denied legitimacy as poets for centuries but now apparently 'manly men' don't like poetry and it is the field of women and emasculated men somehow. Often seems that once a form or thing is no longer considered central in the culture it become a 'woman's thing.' Edited by - BlackSix on 11/23/2015 4:34:33 AM |
