Sanders Member 424 Posts 9/03	Posted - Oct 9 2003 : 11:31PM I got a question, before a porno starts it may say Date of Production 3/30/97- does that mean the day they scheduled shooting, the day they hired everyone, or the day they actually shot the movie. [Link]

I sometimes see "date of release" but I would think "date of production" would be date(s) of shooting. I have certainly seen some "dates of production" that were within 4 weeks of when I was actually viewing the video, making me wonder about their validity. [Link]

This is known as the 2257 compliance and it is to ensure a point of reference for the government in case some girl (Traci lords, Alexandria Quinn) turns up having worked under age. It is also to comply with the required record keeping which came into effect after 1995. And yes it may seem suspect that the date of release and date of production are similar but some companies such as we at ZT video barely make it under the wire for street date sometimes because we're new and don't have 7 million titles under our belt. Not to say that we rush a movie. A few times we've missed the street date because we didn't have enough good scenes to complete the movie. There's typically only about a month to 6 weeks between the time that I finish shooting and editing something before it is released. When the DVD lists multiple scene DOP's, are they listed in the order in which the scenes play? I.E. the first date listed applies to the first scene on the DVD, and so on? [Link]

Click to expand No need to apologize for bringing up these old threads, I was curious too what date of production meant and I think Mike Quasar answered that question perfectly, I see a lot of "Date of Issuance" which is the same as "date of release" I assume. But as to your question, here's a good example of what Quasar said, and date of filming and the order to which the scene appears in the video, from Cockless 1, date of issuance 2/16/01 Notice that date of filming doesn't correspond with order of appearance. As you can see here there's several months between filming and date of issuance, so Ed provides the date of filming to ensure if anybody checks the models met the age requirement at time of filming, smart move! Click to expand No, they would just be the dates the footage was shot over in order. The scenes wouldn't necessarily be in the film in shooting order. [Link]
