I read your post over on the Tiffany Minx thread and it piqued my interest. I noticed a tinge of disgust, if not outright revulsion, in your voice when speaking of Rodney Moore and I wondered what was up with that. Did a search and found plenty of threads that talked about his movies, but not too many that talked about him or his methods. So I wanted to ask you, what's up with that?
Even though he's still working, I realize that Rodney Moore's glory days are long gone. I also realize that even during the best of times, his operation was lacking in all the bells, whistles, and other accoutrements of the classier, first rate porn enterprises. He was in the mid to lower rungs of porn production houses, his was an acquired taste, and he probably appealed to the baser instincts in a lot of us.
I get that.
I also get that he was usually a first, or at best, an intermediate stop for actresses making their way in the porn world, and with a couple of exceptions, girls who "graduated" from him and went on to bigger and better things in porn, generally didn't work with him again. Although there were some notable exceptions to this, with some major starlets who worked with him when they were on the comeback trail. I can think of Laurel Canyon and Shanna McCullough off the top of my head, who had already been major stars when they worked with him. So I get that if a girl has options, she's probably not gonna work with Rodney. He also used lots of girls that had, *ahem*, NO CHANCE of further careers in front of the camera in the porn industry. Smile.
But having said all that, I still think that Rodney Moore, low class as he might be, was a major contributor to the development of porn as we know it, and was a pioneer in many aspects of the porn that we enjoy. He, and your John, and their two even scuzzier contemporaries, Max Hardcore and Ed Powers, pretty much laid the groundwork for all that is gonzo. It's debatable as to whether Rodney is worthy of AVN Hall of Fame status, but I don't think it's arguable that he's touched a lot of people in the porn industry, gave a lot of girls, (and a few guys), a good start, left an impressive body of work, and struck a chord with an awful lot of porn fans. All while going his own way.
I concede that his particular style, (not to mention the thought of fucking him personally), might be unsettling to you, and presumably Tiffany , but I was curious to know if that was all there was to your distaste for him. Did you have some personal experience with him? Or other negative interaction?
When I see all of the high profile, big name starlets, who are at the top of their game and ostensibly have choices, turning up on the "meatholes" and "pissmops" and worse, of the world, in addition to some of the things that are de rigueur in regular gonzo now, working with ol' Rodney is looking pretty tame to me.
Again, this IS NOT designed to call you out or put you on the spot. I've interacted with you positively a number of times here on the boards and respect you a lot. I was just curious when I saw your comment, and wondered what you, (and other forum talkers), thought.

Hi. No deep dark secrets here.
I just wouldn't relish the thought of having sex with him or giving him a blowjob, and I get a little unnerved at even thinking of any of my friends doing it either.
This is purely a personal female opinion, but on a looks and personality level, I put him only slightly higher than Ed Powers. The only reason I worked for/with Ed Powers was because I mistakenly thought I was going to be working with Jake Steed instead of Jamie Gillis, and I thought Jake was hot. I'm not saying anything at all about Rodney's contributions to the adult business, which are undeniable.
Oh, and I guess there is one other thing. I decided from the second I saw him that I wouldn't work with him. I've run into him at about 6 or 7 of the AVN conventions that I've been to, and each time, he had acted like he was running into some brand new girl, and made some lame attempt to pass himself off as a really great director that would do wonders for my career if I worked with him. I found it particularly humorous the day that he came up to me the day before John and I won 10 awards for Fashionistas.
Sorry about the rant, to all the fans of Rodney. I'm usually pretty diplomatic, but I'm also honest.
The reason why I'm a big fan of Rodney is because I love his movies, he shoots fantastic POV action and because his movies always have a great built up.
I also love his work because he's a normal looking guy, it feels more real and you can relate to it more rather than watching a Rocco Siffredi or Lee Stone kind of guy. I hope that makes any sense.

Ramsey, I am big Rodney fan as well. I have been watching is his movie since waay back -- starting in '93 when he was just shooting footage for different companies.
I agree with everything you said about his "normal guy" appeal. I also think he is pretty much the pioneer of the POV porn (even though its possible 'POV' shots have existed prior to Rodney).
I remember the first Rodney scene I ever saw was in this old (now defunct) Glitz Video tape, "WadGobblers #1". It featured Rodney doing a BJ/fuck on this brunette who was not exactly a knock-out. But something happened to me as soon as I saw this POV footage of this girl sucking his dick and looking right into the camera. I had never seen such a perspective in PORN before and it drove me nuts!!!
I've been a Rodney fan ever since. Granted, I don't love everything he does. But I always give him a fair chance to turn me on!
I'm a fan of his work ever since he first started like when he was shooting scenes for LBO back in 1992/1993.
I do have some problems with the guy for example:
1. Why shoot a lot of hairy, overweight and she-male stuff compared to 'normal' scenes?
2. Why shoot a lot of scenes oral-only? I mean when I buy a movie I want to see everything, not just oral sex. It's very frustrating.
3. Release more DVD's. I mean only the first 5 or 6 volumes of Cumm Brothers and Creme de la Face are on DVD, why not the rest? I know OGV went down but he owns the titles so he could release them again on DVD. Same for the great Cum Stoppers serie which I really loved but only 3 volumes are on DVD.
Another problem is he doesn't release DVD's according to release. I mean he released Baba Bimbos 2, 3 and 4 on DVD but not volume 1. The same goes for the Goo Girls serie, volume 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 have also not been released on DVD yet. This goes for many more titles like the I Swallow and Different Strokes serie.
Rodney did a scene with Mirage/Brianna Banks in a CB volume when she first started and I would kill to see that scene on DVD!

I'm not a big fan of this either. But I feel Rodney is tyring to cover an underserved market, so more power to him.I don't have as big a problem with this because I love oral scenes and BJ flicks. *However*, I like seeing a good fuck and I agree that occassionaly it seems like Rodney wastes potential fuck opportunities esp. on girls that have decent bodies.
The most recent disappointment in this area was "Chocolate Honeys #4". This only had 1 fuck scene and it was with the least attractive girl (IMHO). This really threw me because while the oral stuff was great (as usual), I expected some fucking too and the chicks in this Chocolate Honeys were the best of all (Promise, Jada Kiss, Courtney Devine, Carmen...). I was getting all geared up to see Courtney's Devine's butt getting banged in POV, but it never came to pass. I wonder if Rodney is just getting old. LOL. All the other Chcololate Honeys had a good mix of oral/fucking, BTW.
What I think is happening is that he has to wait some amount of time before he has the rights to release the stuff that used to belong to Oddyssey group. Either that or he just hasn't gotten around to authoring those DVDs yet -- as current work takes priority.
yeah, I'd love to see some of the CDLF volumes on DVD. #39 in particular has a spectacular scene with this Asian named "Precious". She has a serious bubble-butt.
Didn't know about this. Yeah, this would be great to see.
