My advice is to do what you think is best for the performance, or whatever turns you on. If your performance is more hardcore and raunchy I would do the gagging bit, if it's a burlesque more classy type vibe that you're going for then I would do a very slow and precise deepthroat while properly peeling the banana and presenting it to the crowd. However if you're not into gagging don't do it.
