Well, I bought the set recently and was going to review it. Unfortunately, the first disc was mastered improperly so the subtitles won't come on. I don't speak Japanese so it may be awhile before I review this one.

I called Five Star about it and they told me I had to email NuTech directly (which concerns me since customer service has always been a strong point at Five Star). I was further told that NuTech will send me out a copy, no questions asked, for free.

Now, you tell me: is NuTech going to simply accept my word that I bought it? I really don't think I should have to send, at my expense, the original copy to NuTech (if they indeed decide to require that action). Maybe I'm concerned that hundreds of fraudulent requests, and they will happen given the nature of some of the losers online, will cause NuTech to renege on whatever deal they have with their distributors.

In any case, I'll keep everyone posted as to what happens...

Well, it appears that NuTech was giving Five Star the runaround. I'm told that NuTech offered to replace all copies with no hassle and this is no longer the case. Jason at Five Star has found out how lousy NuTech's customer service is and told me he will ship out a replacement copy as soon as they come in. Thanks.

Jason & 5Star are great - I had a different title (not NuTech, tho)that wouldn't play, & Jason shipped me out another copy right away, just on my word. Unfortunately the other copy wouldn't play either - so they sent me a different title of my choice. At this point, I figured they're probably losing money, so I didn't mind a small shipping charge to send the 2 disks back. But I wonder if the stores get as good customer service from their vendors as they give us? I would hope so, they shouldn't have to eat it.

I had the same problem with mine... no subtitles... also bought it from 5 Star (which is located just 10 minutes from me) and I contacted NuTech about it - they said to contact the seller. I emailed 5Star and they replied that they will send me out another. This was a few weeks ago, so I don't know when I'll get it. I'd like to know if anyone got a working copy. I got the box set and have only played 2 of the discs - one worked the other didn't. Did NuTech release any that worked or are they all bad? If someone could email me and let me know (soulxside@hotmail.com) I'd appreciate it.

After searching for more information, I have been told that a bad press run at the dvd duplicator was the problem. Most of that press run was used for the boxed sets and 5 Star got many of them. I was told that NuTech wanted 5 Star to refer customers to them for replacements but after a lot of people did so, they wanted to back out.

I will wait a week or so to see if 5 Star has received the replacment copies to send us. After that, I will call them again. No sense in worrying about it for now. The rest of them play just fine (even if they are a bit lame-read my reviews).
