After Neon Nights, DIMJ, Insatiable etc...what are the movies that you'd like to see released with the "deluxe" treatment?
I guess only classics from the golden age are likely to be released in this format (Bruce Seven? only in my dreams), so let's stick to the 70's and early 80's.
I'm also staying away from personal favorites that i feel are not famous enough to be picked by Media Blasters or similar companies: this is not a comprehensive all-time favorite list, just a (hopefully) realistic one in this context.
- 3 A.M - the current version by NuTech is highly recommended but the movie is so good that it deserves a 2-dvd edition
- Bad Girls
- Amanda By Night
- Candy Goes To Hollywood
- Behind The Green Door
- Never A Tender Moment + Beyond De Sade (i can dream can't I?)
- Stiff Competition - guilty pleasure, unlikely too
- a handful of Henry Paris movies - from what I've heard, "Naked Came The Stranger" is the one that suffered most in terms of cut when VCA released it on dvd (true?), so it would be priority #1.
Most of these are personal favorites and may not have much broad appeal but I'll add these to the list:
- Fantasy (Gerard Damiano) - Night Dreams - Cafe Flesh - Devil in Miss Jones II
- Take Off - The Opening Of Misty Beethoven - Sex World - In the Pink
A couple more McCallum flicks, though not as strong as 3 A.M., still worthy additions: - Ecstacy Girls - Suzie Superstar (probably too light-weight) It's a shame he didn't leave any commentary tracks for his movies.
- Champagne For Breakfast (with a Leslie Bovee commentary) - Desires Within Young Girls - Talk Dirty To Me - F
It would be nice to see "Maraschino Cherry" and "Naked Came the Stranger" uncut.
Alot of the ones mentioned would make sense, Talk Dirty To Me, Cafe Flesh, DMJ 2. If they could get nice sources for Babyface, Femmes DeSade, Pretty Peaches, they could start a 'Alex DeRenzy' collection sort of thing. And for Damiano, with nice uncut versions of Satisfiers Of The Alpha Blue, Story of Joanna. I think it would make sense to do the Henry Paris and more Cecil Howard stuff too.
Last I spoke with MB, 2007 was looking to be an exciting year, but with the passing of VCX president Rudy Sutton, I think everything's sort of up in the air at the moment.
I think with Media Blasters, anything is possible. While they're dealing most with VCX and Cecil Howard at the moment, it's not too far out of the realm of dreams that any of these titles could happen!! The problem is confirming rights holders and tracking down quality elements. My dream Collector's Editions are of PLATINUM PARADISE, FIRESTORM, FOXTROT, and STAR ANGEL, my four favorite Cecil Howard films. Of the VCX library, I would love to have tricked-out special editions of THE DANCERS, LITTLE GIRLS BLUE, "F", ODYSSEY, SEX WORLD, NASTY GIRLS (never on DVD!), NEVER SO DEEP, TAKING OF CHRISTINA, DEFIANCE, SEVEN INTO SNOWY, and TROUBLE WITH YOUNG STUFF. All of the Henry Paris films would be wonderful, too, TALK DIRTY TO ME (from Dreamland), the Alex de Renzy films, NIGHT DREAMS.
I think that MB should focus more on films that have never hit DVD yet!! That would be all of the Cecil Howard films and lots of films from VCA.

As a result of reading the posts on this thread, I've been 'researching' the availability of some of these titles on DVD and using 'studio' listings in my searches.
I've quickly become confused (it happens often with me) by these various 'studio' listings.
For example - Command Video lists Babylon Pink & Neon Nights as does VCX DVD. Are these two different studios?
Then Media Blasters only lists Neon Nights. Is this another different studio?
Then I found that some distributors (e-stores?) often list both, but some only list one and not the other. Don't these outlets have access to all the DVDs from a particular studio?
Finally, are the DVDs from these 'different' studios identical in both content and quality. If not (which I suspect) why are they different?

Robert, it's easy to get confused on these listings, Command, VCX and Media Blasters are three different companies. There is only one release of Neon Nights and Babylon Pink though. Command is the company that owns the rights to the two films and is displayed on the box. Media Blasters, through their Raincoat Theater label, have leased the rights to release these two films. Which is why their name shows up. Media Blasters made a distribution deal of some sort with VCX for these titles. Their name does not appear on the box but since they are the distributor some sites list their name. I hope that helps.

Are you sure that VCX owns this one? Last I knew VCX had released every title they hold the rights to that they could find an acceptable master for. I'd also love to see Metzger's, DeRenzy's and McCallum's films released as special editions, and would have thought the former is only a matter of time.
Of the VCX catalogue, Bad Girls and Surrender in Paradise would seem to fit the bill, as would Odyssey . Looking further a field, Pandora's Mirror would be a good choice.
Going back to the proposed Deep Throat release, I wonder if it would be possible to pair it with Damiano's excellent sequel, Throat: 12 Years After .

My copy of NASTY GIRLS is on VCX, but it may have slipped away from them somehow. The whole ownership thing is so confusing, but since they put it out on VHS, I just figured they would still have it in their library.
Personal vendetta against ABA? None here, I own many of their discs and get excited when I see new boxed sets of theirs announced. I've given them many positive reviews on my website. I just don't like seeing subpar releases from VHS masters getting in the way of potential quality versions. I've personally heard it when talking to MB reps: "Alpha Blue already released that one." I wouldn't think it would matter to MB if they can improve the previous release. I've deleted my mention of ABA in the post above, as I guess it does sound a little bitchy and as if I have an agenda.

Definitely, I'm glad they won, that's good news. The only way I could imagine them not winning was maybe because of them being brand new to the classic porn, they definitely deserved to.
I'm ecstatic that NEON NIGHTS won! Both Command discs were wonderful, of course. I hope that the fact that NEON nabbed the award will lead MB to pursue more Cecil Howard titles.
Wasn't "A Chorus Call" the film that had the song "Six Tits in a Row" in it? I haven't seen that one in ages, but I still can't get that song out of my head.
I was thinking about this yesterday. I haven't seen any of the Johnny Wadd movies so I don't know if they're any good, but I think that I would like them regardless. I think it could be cool if there was a nice set with the entire series in it. There could be a few disks of double or triple features in it, so it wouldn't have to cost like 200 dollars, and would include whatever kind of good commentaries and interviews that can be put together, I like John Holmes stories. I don't know if this would sound like a good idea as a way for a company to sell these movies, I suppose the rights could be owned by several different companies as well which could make it difficult to do. I think it could be good.
